N: It is 'sweet' like all Glenfiddich, it is round and elegant as it should be a thirty year old: notes of burnt sugar, white chocolate, strawberry tart, brioche ... It seems both buttery and fruity, good. Then, a note of eucalyptus, fragrant woods (sandalwood?). A suggestion of orange jam. Clean and round, with tips of plums and vanilla. P: surprising: we expected a fruity and juicy palate, and instead ... Instead dominates an unusual woody scent, but almost polished for wood (but we have never tasted, eh), a chewy 'chemical' from candy. A balsamic tip, again. Dried dates and figs? A vanilla pit, it's still nice 'crusty'. F: woody and quite long, juicy and fruity notes come back. Burnt sugar, with a vaguely smoky scent. It has the great merit of being particular, on the palate, but overall does not end up persuaderci, especially if you take into account the high price (about 300 euros): it is a good whisky, for heaven's sake, but at the same price you can probably find malts more complex ... http://whiskyfacile.com/2013/11/20/glenfiddich-30-yo-2012-ob-43/
