    Very pretty ! Enthusiasm 4/5 Whisky n ° 1294
    • Nose
Moderately smoked and well baked from the start. A mineral note (slate). Very generous. The duality gluttony / minerality reminds me Kilkerran. More malty than greedy for reflection. Discrete fruits.
    • Taste
Intense, unctuous, very lively and spicy, but also peaty, juicy and rather greedy.
    • Finish
The peat is more discreet, but remains after a long time.

The typical smoke of Caol Ila is very present at the first nose then it fades to let the mineral side of the dram express themselves: iodized spray and wet stone. We also feel a clear vanilla.
The mouth is very sweet, syrupy texture, on a kind of sweet ashes.
Long warming, smoke, ash and iodine finish, with just the right amount of bitterness.
    Yum ! Very well done.

As far as peatmonsters go, this is as good as it gets. Great balance, very good development and finish.

Thanks to Hvdree for the sample!
    • Nose
Very smokey, as expected. But the coastal, briny character you would not necessarily expect from caol ila. Oysters, seaweed. But also hard candy, powdered sugar and a dusty, ashy note next to lime and green apples.
    • Taste
Very heavy arrival, full of power. Fairly sweet, with dry aromas of powder sugar, chalk and ash. Develops into a real nicely balanced coastal whisky with kippers, brine and fresh sea air. I also notice some fudge and caramel notes and even licorice (specifically: "trekdrop" in Dutch). Strange but so nice!
    • Finish
Typical dry and ashy caol ila finish. Long, lovely.

TASTING NOTE (LMDW): Color: lemon yellow. Nose: full , pulpy. Particularly marine, it is marked by smoked fish, cod liver oil and sea spray, salt then comes in gusts before the peat takes things in hand Candied citrus fruits, white flowers and some fruits ripe trees finally manage to make their way through rushes and reeds.Note, the appearance of a medicinal note (balm). Palate: creamy, oily. Its attack is particularly fruity (apple, pineapple). Very quickly however, the peat resumes right of city. It is even unusually intense for a Caol Ila, moreover, of this age. Fans of thrills will not complain, more and more saline, it takes us to the sea to breathe the iodine at full lungs. Smoked fish is more than ever present. Final: long, invigorating. It is all sails out that she assumes her envy. Peat is still intensely present. However, it has more herbaceous and ashy tones. In retro-olfaction, fresh fruits (yellow melon) and citrus (grapefruit) precede an abundant smoke.
