Whisky Reviews for Bowmore 2000 SV

8 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 89.06 points

  1. Bouncer scored this whisky 89 points Expert Junior

Not too complex but what's in it is citrus and peat in a perfect mix.
Even people who complain that they have no extensive knowledge of smells and tastes can recognize this and enjoy it!

    exit for a WL!
    tested with DH after concert.
    • Nose
lemon, a little peppermint, fine herbs and then wet salt and fine peat, more on the smoke in fact, all associated with lemon zest.
      freshness of aromatic herbs.
    • Taste
sweet spices, white chocolate, it's creamy, unctuous, it's on cold smoke, fine peat
the lemon is well marked, a little confit
the salt comes out with some herbs or some dried seaweed rather, in any case one feels the ambient air of the port !!
    • Finish
      long!
peat, smoke, salt, lemon, grassy, seaweed!

  3. Kovalyoff scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

    Good.
Smoke, salt, ember, sulfur from the burnt match, polish ...
Burning fortress, with a slight anesthetic effect ...
    The finish is long, pleasant.

Oh, noblesse! You can´t quite call it shy but it´s a silent dram. Lemons, brine, a little smoke, sea breeze. Gets a little louder with the time. A little bit of putty. Fresh concrete. Hints of wool or new t-shirts (yeah cotton)
I like this nose very much due to its straightforward freshness
    • Taste

same as on the nose, a little more brine than expected, maybe hints of oranges. olive oil. mouthwatering and coating. It´s perfect!
    • Finish
      90 90
      very long, briny, peaty

An interesting mole, at first it seems somewhat primitive, but gradually unfolds, very intact, well-inscribed in the general picture manufactured goods notes, games with water have highlighted some mineral tones.
    • Nose
Open, dry, arboreal, dry medicinal herbs, grain notes, wood dust, fresh cuts, new leather goods, new sneakers, light rubber and smoky shades, light floral tones; With water the picture does not change, becoming only more contrast, sharper, mineral derivatives appear.
    • Taste
Sharp, rich, tart oak, grain, a wave of red and lemon pepper, marinated ginger, lemon rind, bitter sweet notes, burnt paper; With water becomes softer, mineral, metallic shades appear.
    • Finish
Tender, refreshing, slightly astringent oak, herbal notes, bitter young bark, some spices, anise? coriander? Here, water does not add anything, except mineral water with grapefruit juice.

It's direct, fine and massive at the same time. Without embellishment. Brilliant.
    Enthusiasm 5/5
    Whisky n ° 1402
    • Nose
Malt and moderate peat. Fine enough on the cereal, very pretty even. Subtle and sweet. Warm on wood and vanilla. Fruits ? Not really: a little yoghurt with peach maybe.
    • Taste
What a balance! Spices, salty note, finely integrated peat. Superb texture both fluid and corpulent, juicy even. A little coffee at the end of the mouth. And of course malt in the spotlight.
    • Finish
Final clean, intense, with something milky.

Bowmore 13 yo 2000/2013 (54.1%, Signatory Vintage for Whisky Live Paris 10th Anniversary, hogshead, cask #1429, 286 bottles)  Colour: white wine. Nose: ultra-chiselled! 'Opening your bedroom's windows early in the morning on the shores of the isle of Islay.' Or something like that. Seawater, lemon juice and peat smoke in equal amounts. Nothing more, but you can't beat this. With water: as almost always with Bowmore, there's more humus, damp earth, farmyard... Mouth (neat): just 'yes!' Exactly right, on the same infernal trio, brine, lemon juice and a fairly ashy peat smoke. With water: citrus up, it becomes smoother. From lemon to pink grapefruits. Finish: good length, still chiselled. Comments: distillate-forward, my favourite way. Perfect statemental choice (what?) SGP:557 - 90 points.
