- A very interesting whisky, a harmonious combination of light peat and raisin notes with fried notes in the aroma, resembles a lite version of young wine monsters from Brookladdy or a series of Red from Longrow with a subsequent bias in minerality.
Open, dry, first nose - ash, berry jam; light peat, fried potatoes, fried meat, animal fat, raisins, sweet wine notes, ash, a little carpentry workshop, thinner, fresh boards.
Thick, saturated, oak, sweet berry and creamy notes, ash, porto, peat, a little pepper, ginger, metallic and mineral shades.
Spicy, warming, oak, mint, grain, light astringency of the bark, nuts, cocoa, increasing minerality.
- Blind tasting.
Roasted barley, briny, some exotic fruits and black tea
Briny - coastal, pepper, some fruits, smoke and some rubber.
Fruity - apple, Haribo gummy bears, peaty and pepper.
- The first glass I had from this bottle made me nervous, as it was all on cardboard and wet dogs... But after letting it sit for a week, it has really come around. A foundation of sweet vanilla with a nice combination of mineral and salty/savory notes. A little bit of rubber and cheese, with a hint of smoke on the finish. This is a rich, dense, and tasty whisky, and its reputation is deserved, in my opinion. Springbank, Springbank-- drink it up; yum!
nice combination of sweet peat, oak, citrus and a hint of caramel. Sometimes I even smell a hint of egg, but not in a nasty way.
Nice, sweet and very well balanced. Oak, peaty, a light hint of sherry and shortbread. Overal a nice citrusy taste.
Medium long finish, sweet.
- Nose: The nose is excellent!! Fruit juice, apple, banana-cake, sweet oak, sweetshop, light sweet parfume, Hint of vanilla. With water everything gets 'thicker', more caramel and vanilla.
Initial taste: sweet stuff. Caramel, canned fruit, fudge toffee. Spices, herbal
Body: medium. a little dry
Finish: medium-long Hint of peat, which is odd for Springbank. Sweetness prolonges. The peat is a duffer to me.
Price: very fair priced! Won't buy due to the finish.
Presentation: don't know this was a sample
Comments: sample from Hvdree.
