Whisky Reviews for Glen Elgin 1995 Wy

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 84.56 points

  1. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Very nice malt, has typical Glen Elgin notes with the exotic, but a certain tea note reminiscent of Clynelish.
    • Nose
Lavender tea, mango, vanilla, saffron, orange, coconut, apple and, above all, incense sticks, very interesting aromas
    • Taste
Again coconut, fennel, green tea, honey, fresh grass, pear, a bit bitter with a certain aromas and exoticism
    • Finish
Medium length, heather, coconut, honey tea

  2. markjedi1 scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

    Hmm, this was not
easy. A bit of a struggle in fact. And I have absolutely no clue what the name
stands for. Were the people at Wemyss watching the gangta movie from 2007, with
Viggo Mortensen in the lead, while tasting this?
    • Nose
      The nose is sweet and
sour and reminds me of blood oranges, peach and lime. But there is also
something that makes me think of Aspégic – a medicine against fever – which is
not very inviting. Somewhat chemical. Devoid of spices, bar some very discreet
      ginger.
    • Taste
      It is soft on the
palate. The fruit returns, but the oranges immediately turn bitter. It has a
salty edge, which does not seem to work with the sweet and sour fruit. Out of
balance, I would say. The oak offers a nice spiciness though. Liquorice and
      ginger, mostly.
    • Finish
      The finish is rather
short on sweet, zalt, sour and bitter.

  3. Bishlouk scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Nose: Citric freshness, a slight floral early. Vanilla. Palate: Round and sweet. Pear, and a few drops of lemon. Finale: A slight peppery spice. Verdict: Nice and balanced. Not bad as an aperitif whisky.
