    the nose is really cool
the finish is too musty / sulphurous for me (in an aggressive way)

Wonderful Craigellachie. One of those whiskies, you just can take the nose of. Oily, sweet and complex. I suppose that this was not an Oloroso Sherry, but maybe a Fino Sherry butt, cause the typical overwhelming Oloroso aromas are not present. On the palate oranges, prunes, raisins and herbs are tickeling your tongue. Its very smooth and water is simply not needed. The finish is pretty long and sticky .. extremely easy drinkable. You are warned :-)

  7. rottendon scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

The first Craigellachie that I like without restriction. I first scored 88 points, mainly because of the somewhat short finish, but now, as I write, I still enjoy the pleasant aftertaste that develops very late here. This and the pleasant interplay of the notes lead to 90 points, even if it is not a pattern of complexity.

    Thanks, Maggie!
    • Nose
Welcomes you with very fresh citrus notes and some white wine. After a few minutes, the nose settles, and grains as well as distinct, not unpleasant sulfur are the main notes. After a relatively long service life, classic sherry tones are added, but grain and sulfur remain dominant. Heated, the sulfur goes back, the grain notes are almost disappearing and a strong date note comes to the fore.
    • Taste
Strong, peppery onset, almost viscous on the consistency develops a dark, malty sweetness with hints of dark chocolate and some licorice.
    • Finish
In the finish, a herbal note comes on, before the sweet notes become superficial again. Overall, medium-long, a grainy aftertaste, as if you had eaten a dry rye bread, even lasts very long.

    A nice Speysider.
    • Nose
Without water: grainy, strong barley aroma, slightly metallic. With water: the barley remains, the metallic decreases. Malt is added, as well as nuances of daisies and orange peel.
    • Taste
At the beginning rose water sweet, very viscous (sugar beet syrup?), Malty. In the middle is nutcracker and milk chocolate. Above all the grainy note from the nose.
    • Finish
      Long, creamy, nutty.

A beautiful complex orange dram at the pre-Christmas season. Delicious. Pure enjoy pure, with water he loses quickly in the mouth
    • Nose
Oranges, light roasted aromas, fresh bread with crunchy crumbs, candied fruit, fully ripe apples, honey, maple syrup, Dresdner Christstollen, apricot, candle fragrance, already sherry
    • Taste
English marmalade, chocolate spice cake, even in the mouth, the sherry is very and compactly interwoven
    • Finish
Spicy and long, still the Christmas orange
