    whiskyfun:

Clynelish 15yo 1997/2013 (52.2%, The Whisky Mercenary, for beproefd)  Another Belgian affair ;-). Colour: straw. Nose: not much to say, this is a perfectly balanced, mineral, waxy and citrusy nose. I will say nuffin' more. With water: spritzer, lemonade, 'clean' floorcloth and tonic water. Some coal too. Mouth (neat): this is interesting. This baby starts with the expected waxy citrons and some kind of very mineral sauvignon blanc, Pouilly-Fumé style, but it tends to become a notch fatter than usual, with maybe a little more custard and vanilla cake. After that, a little pepper. With water: no, cancel that. Clean, zesty, mineral and lemony. Finish: long, sharp, zesty, chiselled. Modern Clynelish in full swing. Comments: it's a dangerous spirit because you can get hooked on this profile. Clynelish can kill many other malts, it can even kill Ardbeg once you've acquired the taste. Warning! SGP:462 - 89 points.

Because this is just a whisky with taste keys that you don't often taste. A whisky with a nice depth.

    Odor:
Calm, not superficial, but also not a deep draft. Very characteristic and original.

    Taste:
no contrast with the scent and almost completely different. The taste is nice with a nice depth, oily membrane around your tongue and good in combination with the alcohol. I would like to have a bottle of this.

Finish: The finish reveals a delicious whisky. Unfortunately, it does not last very long, but what is left behind is very good. A finish that resembles the notes of the taste, but with new notes.

An original whisky with beautiful notes.

Well, this bottling surely gives them a
grand entrance. This Clynelish 1997 is among the better that I have tried. Successful
promotional stunt, if you ask me. Available at Beproefd.be for 75 EUR. I
    suggest you do not procrastinate.
    • Nose
On the nose, it is bulls eye
from the start! Waxy with honey, grapefruit and crystalized lemon. Flints and
wet rocks. Some green grass. Evolves slowly towards pineapple to end in Turkish
Delight. Hints of nuts and even some nougat in the background.
    • Taste
It is spicy and creamy at the attack.
Immediately I get a truckload of citrus, pink grapefruit up front. Halfway through a great smokiness with a
salty lining emerges. Sweet peat. Quinine? Ginger, no doubt. And a pinch of
white pepper. The tannins do what they are supposed to, giving it a wonderful
bitterness that is so typical for Clynelish 1997. I am not going to add water
to this, for he needs it not.
    • Finish
It dies a bittersweet death on warm spices
and grapefruit. It remains creamy until the death.
