Whisky Reviews for Old Kentucky Tavern 08-year-old

1 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.93 points

  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Delicious full bodied and complex bourbon from the era when KT was the flagship of the late, great Glenmore Distilling Company, run by the Thompson family in Owensboro KY. According to the bottom of the bottle this distillate is from 1974. Unfortunately moved to an anonymous bottom shelf whiskey nowadays (without the word 'old' by the way) under the ownership of Sazerac's Barton Distillery.
    • Nose
Powerful notes of dark fruit (blackberries) and plum jam. Lots of cherries as well. Beeswaxed furniture. Some leather and tobacco. Later on cumin, molasses and layered vanilla
    • Taste
Big, rich and complex. Unbelievable for a 86 proof. Toffee. Raisins. Dark coffee. Candy apples. Caramel. Prunes. But also oranges and tangerines. Cedar wood.
    • Finish
Long. Nutmeg. Cinnamon. Mint at the end. Well balanced.
