Bruichladdich Valinch 1994-2013, 18 years, 57% alc. Original bottling Guayana Rum Cask Bruichladdich Valinch 1994-2013, 18 years, 57% alc. original bottling
Extension: Guyana Rum Cask, barrel no. 5
Region: Islay, Scotland
Special feature: Limited to 290 bottles
Nose: Maritime and sweet, with a strong spiciness. Sea water, limestone and gravel, behind dried plums, raisins and molasses, nice mixture. In the background is a bit of green pepper and some cloves, ginger and cinnamon come up. In addition, a good portion of oak wood vibrates, which is very dry therefore.
Palate: Here comes the rum much stronger, plus a lot of cinnamon, raisins, candied ginger, oak and a pleasantly light peat smoke note. The fruit is a bit sharper and reminiscent of sweet cherry.
Finish: Very long, extremely long and very spicy. Lots of oak, slightly bitter caramel, dry fruits, sea salt and tobacco.
Conclusion: Complex and own, great Bruichladdich.
87/100 points (tasted 2016, approx. 180 €)
