The european oak is really, really dominant. You have to like that taste.
    • Nose
A smashing battle between rich, spicy european oak and mature, sweet sherry fruits. Plums, figs, grapes and overripe strawberries. Old leather, caramel. Very, very complex and therefore modest alcohol. You could sniff for an hour and still find new flavours...
    • Taste
The alcohol is getting more dominant, but still has to wait in line behind the rich oak, which is getting a little bitter now, but not too bitter. No sweetness left at all. Dark chocolate, cacao beans, espresso.
    • Finish
      Wonderfully long and dry finish.

  2. dRambo did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    • Nose
unusually sulfurous nose - immediately reminds me of Deanston 20 Oloroso, passed red berries, pomegranate, powdered sugar, oily, atypical sour, fruity fresh, very tempting seductive intense and special
    • Taste
red berries, dark, sour full-bodied, grape seeds, green juicy wood, chili, espresso, dark cream chocolate with mint - very smooth and aromatic - complex dynamic combination of fruit and oak
    • Finish
Chocolate with cherry jam, also light sulfur of the delicious variety,

Definitely the most sherry-heavy Glenfarclas Edition I know so far (16-21). From front to back sherry and oak flavors. The quite strong Brennereicharakter of Glenfarclas logically comes back a bit. I think it's really great!
    • Nose
strong full-bodied sherry in the first nose, sweetness, sultanas, prunes, sugared oranges, melting chocolate, blackberry jam, cooked berries, candied apple, a really massive sherry wall, now follows the sherry's sweetness, sweet caramel, slowly breaking through the curtain Sherry and meets the typical Glenfarclascharakter, this as a wonderful counterpoint to the sweet Sherry follows bitter oak and herbal aromas, juniper and clove, the successful Aromenreise concludes with leather and very subtle tobacco notes, before the sherry pushes forward again.
In the second nose again a lot of sherry with more caramel.
    • Taste
a lot of sherry right at the beginning, which pushes with force and accompanied by spicy Fassaromen forward, blackberries, jam, chocolate, light roasted aromas such as freshly brewed coffee, orange peel, honey, oily and full, nice to chew, nuts,
with the following swallows it gets creamier and sweeter
    • Finish
again a lot of sherry, full load of chocolate, subtle caramel, fine bitter oak notes in the background, coffee, hazelnuts and walnuts linger a long time, only a few mildly tart herbs, a brief thought of cranberry sauce, the finish could be infinitely long. He remains with much sticky, slightly dry Sherry sweetness.

    for me a top whisky
Fruit and oak are perfectly matched to each other, in addition to the spicy herbaceous notes
Only at the very end does the oak gain the upper hand
    • Nose
      dark and heavy
      sweet, juicy fruits, pickled raisins
      Herbs of Provence, honey
Moss, bark and damp forest floor
    • Taste
      Plum compote with cinnamon
Cherries and oranges with lots of honey
the spices are now coming too
    • Finish
long and warm with fruity oak
      the oak is getting stronger

    • Nose
Nose: Sherry, probably Oloroso, I'm not sure. Light citrus,
    • Taste
Taste: Once again a nice spice rack Dried fruit, maybe subtle smoke, honey, chocolate, coffee, light berries in the background, nice sweetness, no burning. At the end comes oak.

      Great, no great !!!
    • Finish
Finish: Very long, tender or soft. Chocolate is there and oak is full. Beautifully integrated. Again: Great part!

  7. GuyIncognito scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Beautiful and complex dram, in which fruit sweetness and spicy barrel influences complement each other
    • Nose
Surprise, it smells like sherry. Intense and concentrated fruit sweetness, raisins, dried plum, with some time to breathe and distance to the glass, I also find flowery aspects
    • Taste
Spicy with a certain sharpness, coffee, chocolate, cinnamon, cloves, for a short time also mature grapes flash
    • Finish
Coffee beans dipped in chocolate, low oak, slight bitterness, ginger

Tasting Notes by Serge V. on Whiskyfun.com (march 6, 2014):

A label for Germany that I’ve known for years. Many excellent sherried Glenfarclasses in this series!

    Colour: Red amber.

Nose: Indeed, deep Glenfarclassy sherry, with wheelbarrows of raisins, prunes and figs plus a light smoke that punctuates it. Plus this feeling of ganache, raspberries… Very nice sherried and rounded richness.

Mouth: Drier now, with more coffee, spices and herbs. Cloves, cinnamon… There’s a lot of chocolate as well, especially dark ones, then the usual fruitcake and a few mint drops. Aniseed. Blood oranges.

Finish: Classic rather old-style Glenfarclas, with good sherry mingled with a rather potent distillate. Calls for chocolate!

Comments: I find this extremely good, perfect old style sherry, not too complicated. I mean, not very complex, but excellent.

    SGP:552 - 87 points.
