    • Nose
What? Painting, engine oil? This first nose detonates! Accompanied by an average peat evoking cigarette smoke, then later the tire. These strange notes are happily packed and slowly converted into burned acre. Behind, sherry is slow to express itself, but when it does finally, it is very deep, with black fruits. I also detected raspberries.
    • Taste
The acrid smoke dominates and almost crushes the rest, initially. Ultra punchy! I was not ready for this Bowmore. Bright spices. Very fleshy, more and more same. Then, sweeter, thank you sherry.
    • Finish
Finally soothed, rather sweet, with incense and black fruits.

If the Bowmore Tempest series is the angelic side, this Devil Cask is definitely demonic! I liked but I was very destabilized by this almost aggressive peat, light years of the house style.

      Nose 4/5
      Mouth & Finale 3/5

Version III is better in my memories
    • Nose
A nose on peat, black fruits (cherries, grapes), and sherry is very intense, with a few drops of water arise malt and dark chocolate.
    • Taste
On the palate it's powerful, the sherry dominates, the wood, the fruits finish on a salty note (iodine) which rout at the beginning
    • Finish
The final is average peat takes over.

a special whisky, which builds up suspense through an interplay of aromas, a game of sweet and salty, with soft and spicy, flattering or tart, strong or tender, devilishly good on the back tongue and finish, mmh, I like them indeed and I am almost in heaven
    • Nose
rather does not fit the color: ripe pears, a little hair spray, Gluehweinnote, warm asphalt, 2nd gear: a hint of chocolate cake with cherries
    • Taste
ripe blackberries mix with dry dark chocolate, vanilla
      > light peat smoke and caramel> soft salt on dusty cocoa> dark ripe cherry
    • Finish
long and beautiful, not massive and yet intense, dry smoke, peat, dark sweetness, again and again soft salt becomes sweet, what remains: ripe cherry with a hint of peaty dark chocolate

Yes it's really nice, but 300 to 900 euros by now? Rediculous.

A classic sherry matured whisky - intense, peated and sweet. Not as hot as the Devil's cask No. III on the palate. This one is more matured and elegant, but still very complex and powerful. A hot but not a brutal dram, with a gorgeous nose! It is a great whisky but the Devil III blew me away.

    • Nose
Rich, big and intense. Smouldering peat and lots of smoke are present right from the beginning, intertwined with heavily sherried flavours. Dark fruit's coming through with cherries, raisins, and sticky plum jam. Molasses and dark bitter chocolate arrive, complemented by gentle salted seaweed, iodine and damp wood. The sherry is so thick you can cut it with a knife. Very powerful, with the alcohol being perfectly integrated. A gorgeous nose!
    • Taste
Sweet opening with Oloroso sherry, subtle malted barley and burnt wood, immediately followed by a short but vigorous attack of spice, cracked black pepper and chili. Slightly tannic and oaky, balanced by molasses, treacle, raisins and dark fruit. This is all complemented by sweet peat and gentle smoke, with the alcohol being completely mastered. Extremely delicate.
    • Finish
Sweet with a good length. Sherry and dried dark fruit, liquorice, burnt wood and smoky tannins with a slight astringency. Nicely mouth-coating.

WITH WATER: Not too much change on the nose, maybe a bit more malted barley's coming through. Intense sherry and fruity sweetness on the palate with a tamed spiciness, lingering cinnamon and prickling oak tannins on the tongue. Long and very sweet finish with sticky dark honey and gentle peat smoke.
