Not only interesting and didactic to be able to taste this type of whisky which brings out the character of Islay without the peat, but in addition, it is quite simply very good.
Coastal whisky like Old Pultney or Hazelburn (my favorite whisky style).
This shows that the Caol Ila distillery is one of the very large distilleries due to the class of its whiskys.
Very very maritime: sea breeze on a wind-beaten coast, which stings your eyes and leaves a salty taste on your lips.
A little vanilla (certainly very active bourbon casks).
Very "Old Pultney" as a nose, in fact.
With a little water and time (about 15 minutes), notes of fresh cereals.
Salty and rather dry (not sweet)
Salt, algae, malt, wheat.
