    SMWS Tasting Notes
    Colour: Pale Peach

After a very lively, clean, fresh and citrusy opening – some
of us were reminded of cleaning the windows, the aromas turned fruity and
sweet; raspberries, strawberries, ripe kiwis and pineapple cubes. The taste
neat is quite subtle, iced gem cakes, cinnamon rolls and toasted banana bread
with butter and plum jam. After the addition of water the nose is that of
sliced mango, fresh coconut, toffee and green apple Starburst fruit chews. The
taste turns, after an initial sweet sugar rush, citrusy and sour like freshly
squeezed cloudy lemonade, Angostura Bitter, Cider and Bitter Lemon, like a
‘Long Vodka’ one Panellist mentioned. This Glasgow based distillery was
established in 1972 by the Scottish Grain Distillery Co. Ltd.

Drinking Tip: At a summer garden party at Pimm’s o’clock

N: Ethanol powerhouse prevents anything else getting through. With plenty of water added - Black ground pepper, sweet feints, lots of green wood and vanillas
T: Ethanol isn’t quite as severe on the palate although its still the bitter immature spirit which dominates
F: There is a hint of buttered sweetness but its the bitter splintered wood with immature bitter spirit that prevails
C: For a grain, too young for any complexity or richness to develop, certainly from this cask.

    Scores a C
