Not quite my profile with the nippy alcohol and prominent leather notes. Also considering it's very young age I'm actually surprised I like it this much.
    • Nose
      86 86
Full on: new leather, meaty, some herbal spices, cherry flavoured sweet-sour candy, gummi bears and red berries.
With water a floral note appears accompanied by a mild honey sweetness.

Young: without water I find the alcohol overwhelming all other flavours. There's some fruit but distinguishing anything specific is a big challenge.
Quite some water added (I actually added 15 - 20% to tune down the youthfull bite) it turns pleasantly fruity with dark fruit jam (cherry, blackberry and blueberry), again the leather, dark chocolate, some pepper and wood bitters.
    • Finish
      84 84
Fairly long and firm with notes of leather and bitter dark chocolate, also lingering alcohol.

Nose: That has been a very active sherryvat! A lot of leather, shoe polish and red fruit. The granule is certainly still present in the background. This does not have a standard OP smell, the sherry vessel is too dominant for that.
Taste: Full of red fruit. This is a sherry bomb! Little high in the alcohol, probably a drop of water um good. There is behind that sweet and sherry a bit of a salty. Very nice. With some water this whisky is indeed a lot friendlier. A lot of red fruit and a bit of acid.
    Body: Full, round and powerful
Finish: medium length. The salt is very beautiful here. Also very nice is that the sherry notes are not too overbearing.

Beautiful mature and rich dram, especially considering his age.
    • Nose
Beautiful rich sherry nose. Especially for a six year old (that sounds wrong). Sweet, forest fruits. Some herbs can be seen in the background: pepper, clove. Tricky to say what you smell. Wood, burned sugar, caramel. Occasionally you have to dodge the alcohol. After a drop of water, the scents are released from nuts and tobacco.
    • Taste
Because of his age and the high ABV, he must have his time on the tongue. Then the bitter of the pepper comes up, but also the sweet character of the sherry. Chocolate. The water strengthens the bitter character of the taste at the expense of the sweetness. Here too the taste of tobacco, as far as you know how tobacco tastes.
    • Finish
Not too long, but violent finish.

tasting by SV: Old Pulteney 2006/2013 (57.5%, Malts of Scotland, sherry hogshead, cask #MoS 13033, 124 bottles)  Colour: light amber. Nose: gunpowder and used matches strike first, then leather and roasted chestnuts. Goes on with more meaty notes, a feeling of teriyaki, a lot of fresh parsley and lovage, then some sugarcane and walnuts as well as drops of mustard, manzanilla-style. A polarizing style for sure, I have to say I quite enjoy it. With water: gets way smoother and more honeyed. Lovely notes of mead and honeydew. Mouth (neat): it’s the best part. Litres of bitter orange liqueur, rhum agricole, tinned pineapples and sweet curry. Definitely something exotic, despite a growing liquoricy side, as well as emerging notes of pipe tobacco. Very different, very fine. With water: excellent, compact, honeyed and peppery. Quite some cloves and something Christmassy. Finish: long, both sweet and spicy. Oriental, in a way. Comments: a lot happening in this very young baby. The gunpowder fades away – or your brain just filters it out, that’s hard to say. SGP:552 - 87 points.
