    Intense and very satisfying Ardbeg full of distillery character. Compared to the Ten and Uigeadail a bit oaky at times, but it works out very well in combination with the 57,1% alcohol.
    • Nose
      Heavy medicinal peat accompanied by a sweetness of vanille and blueberries. Meaty (bacon) and also quite woody with hints of eucalyptus and pine needles.
    • Taste
      Heavy peat and a thick and oily mouthfeel. Lemons, blueberry jam, cardamom, aniseed, espresso, turns more oaky after a while.
    • Finish
      Intense waves of fresh Ardbeg peat with peppermint, lemons, vanilla and maritime notes (oysters?).

      Immediately one of the elegant and typical Ardbeg smoke pours into the nose, very intense and aromatic, Black Forest ham, smoked bacon, bitter orange, woody, there are associations of pretzel sticks
    • Taste
      Surprisingly sweet, stormy, wild, cold ashes, raindrops patter on the campfire, cold smoke rises, earthy, black pepper, salty
    • Finish
      Lang

    Brilliant!.. balance is superb indeed! Exquisite, skilfully matured Ardbeg, in my opinion.
    • Nose
      The first nose brought intensive, deep, yet sweet aromatics, evoking creaminess (caffè latte), dried fruit (date notably) and toffee apple. Cinnamon quill, pastry filled with syrupy apricot/peach, blueberry?, pineapple??, and also savoury, opulent peatiness. Thinner whiffs of sweet crust of cured ham were noticeable there as well. Onwards that combo of aromas will change, drying out bit by bit and gaining finally a straw-like rather, oatmeal, dry cereal character - softly peated, salty.
    • Taste
      Much saltier than the nose suggested, oilier, thick body - you can almost chew it, salty again, briny, milk cream. But closer to mid palate it tends to switch the pathway onto sweeter one, where brown sugar/muscovado, mocha and caramel, and chocolaty praline flavours meet. And back again: shy iodine, seaweed/kelp, shrimps, anchovies and mussels; this is where its authentic seashore qualities obviously strive to re-awake, regenerate.
    • Finish
      Lingers long, nutty, gradually warming. Salt and dark green, mouldy bitterness mingles with toffeed sweetness so well yet again.

    Good whisky, however, compared to the Uigeadail, the Corryvreckan can tolerate quite a bit of water.
    • Nose
      Intensively peat. Some hay. Medical. Alcohol is not too dominant.
    • Taste
      Salty, then peat. Oak wood. Dry. Burns on the tongue. With a little water, it becomes pleasantly oily and slightly nutty.
    • Finish
      Very long and breathtaking. Oak and peat.
