A great whisky that delivers a nice cargo from the bourbon barrel. You can experiment with water or not. He remains powerful and intense with rich, sweet-ripe aromas reminiscent of balmy, yellow-golden late summer evenings - 18.06.2016
    • Nose
Sweet and strong, alcoholic, solvent, after a while the sweetness dominates, coconut, honey, nougat, vanilla, with water unfold the fruit flavors, sugar drizzled lemon, mirabelle, apricot
    • Taste
Sweet, the alcohol is immediately there, dryness spreads, then it opens, beautiful sweetness, honey, ripe and sweet yellow fruits, something reminiscent of the peaches from the tin, at the end remains a creamy white chocolate

a great malt! However, the whisky still needs some water until the alcohol can be pushed back, even when diluted, it retains its power. I had expected a much "fresher" whisky, but I like the ripe yellow fruits well.
    • Nose
fresh, strong alcohol, not pungent, citrus, sweet honey, ripe and juicy yellow fruits, mirabelle, but also a slightly more tangy pineapple

      with water:
the yellow fruits become stronger and the first hints of spices are spreading
    • Taste
: Poof, strong alcohol, then come the citrus notes, but not the very light and quite fresh, more mature, yellow fruits, peach and coconut.

      with water:
The coconut is now stronger, is a bit drier

Good things, bad things… Even though it’s not as boringly modern (or modernly boring) as some other first fill bourbon whiskies, it falls between many stools in my opinion.

    • Nose
Lemon and vanilla. Some grassy notes and mint. Floral notes too, white flowers and rose petals. Not too bad, not sulphury or anything, quite bright but not very complex.
    • Taste
Intense, with plenty of alcohol. A firm fruitiness of gooseberries, apples and lemon. Again floral hints, even slightly soapy hints now, hmmm. Fresh, slightly tangy oak. Pepper, ginger and mint. Some mineral notes. Heather honey. Better with water: less fierce, the honey comes out more, and there’s a nice vanilla custard note. But I find the oaky bitterness and floral hints a little distracting.
    • Finish
Quite long, with lemon tea, mint and lots of fresh, bitterish oak.

      varnish, fudge, vanilla
    • Taste
soapy, pepper, spicy, vanilla, caramel dessert creme
    • Finish
medium long with the soap staying long
