  1. Robinzon25 scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

    Bright, energetic, sherry whisky, with a high rate of "nutrition"!
    • Nose
      The aroma is gently interwoven with shades of dates, strawberry caramel, black pepper, new skin, cigar and almond.
    • Taste
      Contains the nuances of strawberry compote, prunes, spices, malt and dry oak.
    • Finish
      Of medium duration, tart, a little rough, with a distinct influence of sherry echoes (dates, prunes, figs), with bright tones of strawberry jam, Brazil nut and pepper. At the end, dry, astringent with tannins.

    Well done, a very neat malt!

    [Color] copper;
    • Nose
      dark fruits (raisins, berries), heavy sherry, sweetness;
    • Taste
      fruity onset, strong spiciness, heavy sherry, raisins, dark chocolate, spices, oily body;
    • Finish
      medium length finish; dry sherry in the finish;

    Aroma: thick, heavy, dark raisins, roasted walnuts, dates, malt, dusty sacking, floral nectar, creamy tones, cream brulee, ground currant with sugar, honey, menthol freshness, eucalyptus, cough mixture.
    Taste: sweet, slightly astringent, sweet grape skin with seeds, walnuts, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, dried fruits and dates in the background.
    Finish: wine-woody, spicy, spices: cinnamon, cloves, star anise, rather long, warming.
    Rating: 86
    Bottom line: sweet dessert molt, similar to many sherry whisky, because the first violin here plays just a barrel and it will be hard to guess the base. Old Pulteney’s signature features are only partially discernible here. Attempting to improve and smooth the young whisky with an active barrel, I think it was a success here, it is interesting to taste and pleasant to drink.

    Solid. Tasty with prints in terms of artificiality. 79 points.

      Pleasantly nutty sherry nose. Grapes. Some perfume. Occasionally alcohol stings.
    • Taste
      80 80
      Sweet. Oak comes immediately after. Tobacco announces. Honey. Sweet and spicy dessert. The second sip is a bit bitter.
    • Finish
      77 77
      Medium long, sweetish with perfume.

    Color: darker gold Nose: prunes, dried apricots, light sulfur, very light smoke. Rather shy. Definitely maritime. The alcohol is well integrated. Palate: Very dry, which I personally like. Again dried fruits and sulfur. Old, but not gammeliges wood. He does not look youthful. There is also something that reminds me of an old Armenian brandy.
    Finish: long with dry sherry, wine tasting and wood. Conclusion: Maybe a bit overpriced, but good to very good and independent.

    Not a big boom, but the value for money is ok.
    • Nose
      Sherry, salted caramel, raisin, honey, citruses and spicy oak.
    • Taste
      Powerful, oily and spicy. Raisin, salted caramel and orange peel.
    • Finish
      Medium length, spicy with citruses.

  8. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    An interesting variation of an OP, somehow it does not fit 100% but it's still tasty, the finish is nice and the own notes and mixture of salt, sherry and others are exciting.
    • Nose
      For a Pulteney of course very gesherried, light raisins, while clear acid, sour cherries boiled, honey, toffee and a little green apple, typical of surgery, are also in between, then a pinch of salt, brown sugar and some leather
    • Taste
      Here, too, clearly the light raisins in the foreground and onset, lots of sweet toffee and darker honey, green apple, sour cherries, some white pepper, brown sugar, salt, treated leather, some light tobacco, peach
    • Finish
      Salt and pepper, tannins and oak, honey, raisins and unripe plums, long

  9. DramGoodLife scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

    At first I really enjoyed this bottle but the further down the bottle the less impressive it was.
    • Nose
      Raisins, cinnamon spice, dark chocolate, coffee beans, some salted caramel notes. Lower down the bottle the sherry notes no longer dominate, they fall to the background with the maritime taking over. Sea breeze, sharper on the nose. Bit honey coming through, a more pulteney nose here, similar to pulteney 12. Brown sugar cake. Little smoke coming through.
    • Taste
      Raisins is at the forefront, the spice warms up the tongue and makes this one interesting. The palate is coastal, a lot more sea and salt notes coming through with a little unsweetened raisin. Half way down the bottle, the raisins aren’t there, the spice and warmth still hold strong though.
    • Finish
      Short finish with lots of maritime notes and some coffee beans.
