- With water there is a lovely Jammu sweetness like raspberry jam.
I was not sure about the nose but its fine and a good example of this distillery.
After the 1974 the nose on this is completely different.
Strong notes of gooseberry and plum, some orange but there is also a strong metallic note, could be some sulphur in there but need to taste it.
After a time in the glass it gets floral, and better to be honest.
Finally a few banana notes which surprised me.
Better than I was expecting and lighter in body with some zesty fruit notes from the start.
Creamy toffee mixed with caramel cake , lemon zest mixed with toffee and again some juicy gooseberry.
Gets full on the palate with a few hints of orange in the mix.
Medium length with a juicy sweetness

Inchgower 28 yo 1985/2013 (53.8%, The Whisky Agency, refill hogshead, 266 bottles) Colour: gold. Nose: yes! I like all these nuts (talking about the fruits) a lot. Roasted hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts... That gives a feeling of praline, very nice! Also a little wet paint, which is nice as well (rather putty/almonds-like) and some lemon marmalade. It's quite powerful, it feels rather more than 53% vol. With water: lovely, paint, putty, almonds, beeswax, a little chartreuse, broken branches... Mouth (neat): excellent! There's some oak but this time it's rather on eucalyptus, lemongrass... Wonderfully zesty and pretty medicinal at the same time. With water: swims very well. Lemon, marmalade, oranges... It's a pretty bitter fruitiness, very nice. A little orange blossom water too. Finish: quite long, with a little rocket salad and more zests and wax. Bitter oranges in the aftertaste. Comments: a great bitterish profile. Touches of Cynar and Fernet-Branca. Wins points where the Strathmill lost some in my opinion. SGP:461 - 87 points.
