This is what I call a real sherry bomb. Sherry shines through all the
way with great elegance and complexity. This dram is incredibly rich,
powerful and savoury. A gorgeous example of a seriously mature sherried
GlenDronach in perfect balance. Another big shot of vintage 1993 - you
have to taste this at least once in your lifetime.

    • Nose
Boy, this is rich and intense. Full of dark dried fruit, raisins, and
dates, followed by delicate dark chocolate and fine marzipan. Liquorice,
a touch of dark marmalade, classic bold sherry notes with a significant
touch of coffee and a whiff of leather in the back. No signs of sulphur
at all. A gorgeous nose - you can smell this all day long!
    • Taste
Rich and powerful. The alcohol bite tickles the tongue a bit. No wonder,
it's almost 60% abv! Nicely sweet with dark cherries, dates and
raisins, lovely coated in dark chocolate. Mouth-coating with Demerara
sugar and a rich deep array of sherry flavours. Liquorice, pleasant
stewed plums and a smooth note of walnuts, deliciously mixed with oaky
      tannins in the back. Fantastic!
    • Finish
The finish is very long, warm, round and sticky sweet with sherry-soaked
raisins, coated in dark bitter chocolate. Plenty of liquorice and dried
walnut nicely linger with coffee and expresso beans on the tail.

WITH WATER: The fruitiness is a bit tamed on the nose
with a few drops of water, leading more chocolate flavours to the fore.
Liquorice and marzipan accompanied by plenty of sherry and oak spice in
the back. Sweet and creamy on the palate with lots of sherry, dates and
raisins. The spiciness and alcohol bite is slightly tamed. The finish is
still long, tender sweet and noticeable drier with coffee beans,
      walnuts, leather and oak.

Difficult to drink this BLACK PEARL ! Customize your time and enjoy some water ...
However, I have not had a better GlenDronach in the glass until now!

    Super paints. Unbelievable.
    • Nose
Chocolate, marzipan, really dark and deep. The alcohol cools the nose neatly. For a short time I had a juniper smell in my nose. I could smell for hours on this whisky.
    • Taste
Sweet, no alcohol first, then he attacks. The dark fruits and the chocolate are also clearly present. At the third gulp shortly a crass sherry sweet.
    • Finish
Long, slightly bitter, and sweetly fading.

N: `Liquid wood` with very heavy sherry. Tree bark, raisins, leather, chocolate, oranges, marzipan and mint. Initially also a bit acerb and dusty like an old house. Or even better: Horse stables, including the whiff of ammonia. After a while even a salty touch of broth. The nose suggests older than 20 years and perhaps even a slight over-maturation.

T: Extremely heavy sherry. Sweet, heavy and full-bodied. Raisins, dark chocolate, coffee, almonds, vanilla, pepper and broth. The doubts which I had based on the nose are not confirmed. It does not really need water, it is smooth enough as it is.

F: Fruity with a nutty spiciness, does not remain as heavy as on the palate.

R: The 21YO Parliament, which I deem very heavy in sherry, seems fresh and light in comparison to this one.

Fruity and spicy aroma, red apples, mint, lime peel, cinnamon, warehouse, leather and olive oil. Marzipan sweet taste, eucalyptus, white pepper, walnuts, orange marmalade, dark chocolate, espresso, vanilla and toast. Long, fruity and spicy end.
