Whisky Reviews for Dufftown 1999 GM
5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 82.60 points
- Fruity, Vanilla, typical Duftown, a tiny bit to bitter for my taste
- Dufftown 1999-2013, 13 years, 46% alc.
Bottler: Spirits of Scotland (Gordon & MacPhail)
Expansion: First Fill Bourboncask 8788
Region: Speyside, Scotland
Nose: Very fresh and malty, with a tendency to citrus fruit. There is a smell of sugared lemon juice, then the nose is a bit deeper, followed by orange and clementines, next to a hint of clove, minimal vanilla.
Palate: creamy and fruity, yellow and green fruits, even the lemon is toned down, still noticeable, slightly sour like mild white wine. In addition, some vanilla, the spices, however, are stronger than in the nose, including a slight bitter note.
Finish: Medium-long and dry with spices, caramel and oak.
Conclusion: Pleasantly fresh and spicy with a nice dose of lemon, palate and finish. Surprisingly little vanilla and surprisingly spicy for a young bourbon barrel.
