Whisky Reviews for Talisker Young & Feisty McG

5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 83.63 points

  1. Albaron scored this whisky 82 points Specialist

Nothing spectacular, quite simple and striking, clear flavors, quite delicious, but the normal 10 is much better
    • Nose
Sweet, some smoke, slightly doughy and grainy, lemon, mineral, but also some alcohol and solvents
    • Taste
slightly sweet and sour, malty-sweet, some fresh mint, very light dry smoke
    • Finish
the smoke remains, light tannins from the oak, the malting remains a little longer with a hint of vanilla toffee

  2. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

    # # Blindtasting
    • Nose
Very subtle, some lemon peel, mineral, some peat, some black tea, slightly musty, rotten fruit and some freshly cut grass. Idiosyncratic.
    • Taste
very thin, very flowery, I really chew on petals, grassy and somehow chemical.
    • Finish
Pepper, astringent, slightly sweetish, some peat. But over quickly, watery, later "furry".

Young & feisty indeed. I would even go so far as to say that this is too young. It was certainly interesting trying a relatively immature Talisker, but there is no getting around the fact that this whisky will mainly appeal to malt enthusiasts. I get the impression that the people in charge were well aware that their clients would mostly be... serious drinkers who are prepared to put down a lot of cash just to try something new and exciting. I can't really blame them - it's Talisker after all.

Here the name is really motto
an incredibly fresh and tasty whisky
    with intense aromas
for a young whisky with 46% very good
he is without age, I estimate him at 6 8 years maximum
while drinking you can really feel his youthful power
I would prefer him to the 10y
    not because he is better
but because he is a better contrast to the DE and the 18y in the bar than the 10y
I will immediately feel the 10y against

    the 10y against palpated
and yes the true youth contrast lies with the young & feisty
    an always welcomed dram
    • Nose
      Salty harbor water and Möwenschiet
      fresh smoke,
in the second try juicy fruits behind it
      he smells young
    • Taste
      young and fresh,
      a morning harbor atmosphere
Seagull screaming, the air tastes of fog and salt and seagull
      a touch of licorice
fresh soft apricots mix with hot pepper and salt
the tongue is burning ... .. becoming moist and salty
smoke gathers in the throat like a cloud
    • Finish
      medium
Tobacco in the mist with lots of sea and salt and licorice
a very nice finish with lots of licorice

  5. Ralph Hiltrup did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

    Producer`s Note:Clean, salty, peppery, ozone-y-

and, sweetly smoked - all apply to its nose. Oceanic, with sweet  peat

and sweet malt plus iodine warming up the palate - it all runs to a

finish with phenolic quality, mocha and more salty cues.
