My hitherto oldest Highland Park, clear and brilliant, fruity, sweetish, fine-spicy, very clearly recognizable as Highland Park, nuttier than younger bottlings, very multi-layered, a fine malt with a lot of character - schööön!
    • Nose
Honey, chocolate, pecans, apples, orange, lemon, wonderfully fine smoke, cinnamon, gradually changing from anise to licorice, strawberry
    • Taste
clear brilliant onset, fine sweetness, delicate spice, lemon, orange, apples, strawberry and black cherry, grapefruit, pecans, walnut oil, dark chocolate, lots of honey, sweetish herbs, cinnamon, clove pepper, cardamom, nutmeg, in the distance monstrous smoke, with spicy every sip, the licorice comes forward, but is again displaced by strawberry and cherry and slight sweetness
    • Finish
fruity, dark chocolate, slightly smoky, clearly nutty, with clove pepper, anise and fine licorice, clear, brilliant, almost medium-long, lots of strawberry and fruit sweetness, at the end the nutmeg is still hanging on the tongue ...

[October, 2004]  I had this during a Prof. Schobert special rarities tasting at Rolandsbogen.

    In
my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 92,5. Unfortunately I took no detailed notes.

    Colour:
    gold
    Nose:
Tons of candle wax with fragrant vanilla. In addition smoky hints of heather, lime, leather, soft wood and a suitable spice. Absolutely delicious tea aromas from Earl Gray and colleagues circle above everything - gray and very tasty!
    Taste:
Spicy, dominant and delicately perfumed. Lots of caramel, vanilla, good wood and teen notes again. Fruity and sweet with lime, yellow apple, tons of honey and delicious stone fruit.
    Finish:
Medium in length - with caramel, vanilla, brittle and honey, with heather and malt - all underlaid with smoke and only with a little fruity sherry sweetness.
