I can only explain the almost 83 points with the fact that the whisky polarized and maybe it was given too little time and attention with just a 2cl sample.
One of the biggest surprises in a long time because it is so subtle and yet elegantly beautiful.
Of course, you should only invest 160 euros here if you have tried a sample beforehand and then like the whisky as much as I do. Not everyone will be. For me personally, this is absolutely my favorite taste profile, which is also due to the fact that I find the age and the percentage optimal: approx. 20 years, between 50 and 55 percent combined with a very clean distillate.
Light fruity aromas with a good portion of tartaric aromas of apple and grape juice. But in a positive sense, because overall and after 15 minutes of standing it is very balanced and nicely balanced with its 16 years and an intensive 52 percent.
Kiwi, honey, barley malt and a very light note of wood that fits perfectly.
With a little imagination and attention, I find a minimal peat smoke note at the very end.
Wow, the start follows the nose, but then there is a nice, broad interplay of ripe sweetness and an oily, almost tropical fruit mix.
Here I like it even better than the nose and that's really rare.
The sweetness is slightly salty and tingling at the back and reminds me a little of beautiful and old bottlings from Highland Park.
It tolerates water very well, making it even creamier without losing any notable intensity.
The mouthfeel is super good, stays on the palate again with this very clean, minimally maritime sweetness. The key data (16 years, just over 50 percent) fit very well here and the finish is long, intense but at the same time light and carefree.
