First a lot of alcohol in the nose - takes a lot of time
Then it becomes fruity ..... with a little water it develops a sensational mouthfeel! Creamy, full-bodied with a long finish - sherry is rather light, not overlaid

  4. Hemdl scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Smells like a Speysider, tastes like a Highlander.
Nice fruity, spicy and sweet, with a great herbal note on the finish. The sherry keg extremely reserved, in blind tasting I had typed a good ex-bourbon cask. Alcohol well integrated.

  5. Calmar scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Not a bad, refreshing mantle, powerful, with a classic wood-grain profile, softened flower-citrus notes.
    • Nose
Restrained, dry, processed wood, vegetable notes, animal fat, thinner, carpentry workshop, resin, vanilla, lemon peel, lime-lemonade shades, floral motifs.
    • Taste
Powerful, saturated, woody-grain, peppery wave, sweet creamy lemonade notes, flower-honey hues.
    • Finish
Spicy, refreshing, corn, oak, ginger, orange and lemon candies, light beer, light sulphurous notes.

    Proefolympics 2017, day 16
    • Nose
      Cheesecake like, highland character
    • Taste
      Pretty simple, little development
    • Finish
Better than the nose, sweet. Nice, light sour tone though. Little sweet lemon like, develops better

Tasted and scored during a blind tasting competition in May/June 2017. (PO17)

not really a typical Ben Nevis, as far as i can tell... it was rather smooth.

Tasted this blind. Great whisky. Top stuff. Would have guessed this was a fruity Speysider like Glenmorangy, Glen Grant or Glenrothes but turned out to be a sherried Highlander. Great bottle!!!
    • Nose
Yellow fruits. A lot of yellow fruits, like peach, apricot, banana and mango. Glue (solvent), minerals, vanilla, rosewater, pound cake, a hint of salmiak or liquorice.
    • Taste
A type of Dutch candy (snoepschuim), mango, peach, apricot, banana, fresh mint, vanilla, karamel. Nice and fatty, well balanced. Amarsen and melon at the end.
    • Finish
Nice fresh finish with a bit of mango coming back, the heat of white pepper is there. Salt and minerals at the end. Stays a decent amount of time. Nice and warm until the end.

    sample from a friend
    • Nose
Light sherry. Generally on light, sweet malt. Crystallized lemon candy chews. Pith and waxy fruit. Delicate and subtle pre-ripe peach. I almost get the sense that there's phantom smoke. Spun sugar and honey. Very much a dessert malt. I hope that it doesn't melt my teeth! (with water) Water brings out more honey  and the same sweet fruit and malt profile. There's also the addition of some mild and sweet summer flowers, and honeysuckle.
    • Taste
Surprisingly silky. Sweet malt, delicious lemondrop candy, and then some oak in the form of bitter lemon zest and flesh. Very sweet on sugar, but you don't have to worry about a sense of artificial sweeteneer. (with water) Swims really well, just makes everything bigger and just that much more accessible, if not a touch sweeter (!), like the sugary drizzle on gulab jamun
    • Finish
Much more of the same. This was rather a straightforward malt, very well executed and balanced. And even easier to enjoy.
