Whisky Reviews for Strathisla 12-year-old
5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 80.69 points
- Perfect sipping whisky. Goes from an enticing, fruity and floral initial aroma through a regrettably thin body and somewhat ephemeral development to end up with a surprisingly solid cocoa-slash-coffee-driven, European oak finish that lingers and provides some nice, dark warmth before slowly fading out. Nothing to go nuts over, but perfect in terms of easy entertainment, preferrably on summer nights. The nose especially is a serious treat.
- A slight bitterness runs through the entire tasting, together with the fantastic spice gives a nice concept. Have rarely had such a tasty whisky in the glass. The only criticism is probably that the alcohol does not always seem particularly involved.
spicy oak with a good dose of sherry, nutty, sweet, malt with a hint of caramel and grape-nut flaky, roasted aromas, vanilla, banana bread, soft smoke with dried rosemary, juicy Boskop, apricot and mango, very well balanced
