Whisky Reviews for Glenturret 1982 MBl

4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.84 points

    Glenturret The Maltman

    1982 30 jaar 46%

Glenturret 30 yo 1982/2013 (46%, The Maltman, bourbon, cask #258, 242 bottles) Four stars

Colour: gold. Nose: wackier than the 1986, that is to say starting more with butter and cream, a little wine vinegar, sour lemon juice, Swiss cheese and beetroots. It's a very singular malt whisky that really develops on vegetables and roots, although there's also a little orange blossom water, oriental pastries, bergamots... That side tends to grow, all for the better.

Mouth: sharp and almost pungent, fruitier and much more citrusy than the 1986. It's actually like the zests of 10,000 oranges, lemons and grapefruits that you would have squeezed. That's right, it's almost like quaffing essential oils. Huge palate.

Finish: long and now grassier. A cocktail made out of Jaegermeister and Cointreau, 50/50. Have to try that one day. Some pepper in the aftertaste.

Comments: another one that's truly spectacular and pretty extreme. Feels like more than 46% vol.

    SGP:561 - 85 points!!

An incredibly complex and multi-layered single malt. It has the typical bourbon cask notes and a fantastic variety of flavors and aromas. This whisky needs some water and a lot of time in the glass !!!
    • Nose
Freshly waxed leather and some furniture polish, then plenty of seasoning. Served with vanilla, nutmeg and lemon. With water, the vanilla becomes even stronger and the furniture polish and leather disappear. Biscuit and the scent of Mon Cherie are added. Then comes a fat breeze of dark chocolate with a high cocoa content. Coffee bean is also to be found. Very complex and complex.
    • Taste
Bäm. Strong and spicy. Lots of vanilla and strong oak spice. A little caramel on dark chocolate make the whole thing round. When swallowing, a tiny amount of smoke develops on the palate. Will become sweeter with time.
    • Finish
Very long and complex. Great flavors permeate the palate. Getting sweeter with time.

Great kiwi nose, kind of a bit overfruity kiwi, but lovely, sweet and long... Great stuff, go get some, the bottlers kept a few for themselves (father & son) and they know why... At least thats what the son told us at the tasting... I will get one for sure, time for some kiwi
