  1. Highlander65 scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

Good, it looks much more than its 8 years old, with a full and robust body and very strong and marked aromas. The alcohol content is demanding and requires the addition of water to be best enjoyed.
    • Nose
On the nose, sweet pulpy fruit (plum, banana), raisins, very sweet raisin wine, a pinch of disinfectant that does not disturb, on the contrary. Perfectly integrated alcohol. With water the banana is accentuated and a nice plum cake appears
    • Taste
In the mouth it is very dense and creamy, with a hint of ripe fruit, a hint of licorice and coffee and a slight sour note. In the mouth the alcohol tingles much more than in the nose, but it is bearable. With water it keeps the same flavors and alcohol becomes more manageable.
    • Finish
      Long, fruity, creamy finish.

Besides the Ultimate cask strength Longmorn's, the Tamdhu's certainly belong to my favorite. The smell, the taste and the recognisability of ingredients, that I leave to each his own judgment. After all, it is a different experience for each of us. Cheers!

    Nose:
Sweet and sour, initially the sherry influences are not that clear. It needs a bit of time and water to get it more open. With water: Indeed it opens more up with sherry notes. Although there is a little off note in the background.

    Taste:
Oemph! This one needs water. Without water it is quite a sherry bomb. Loads of sweet raisins, red berry's and other red fuits.

    Body:
    Medium and round

    Finish:
Medium-long length. There is the obvious sherry influence, but also quite some vanilla and caramel.

    Price:
Don't know this was a given sample

    Presentation:
The Ultimate is alway sober and decent.

    Comments:
I like it quite a bit, but it feels a bit too much 'finished for a finish'.

  11. St. Pauli scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

I like it! The price/quality is very good.
    • Nose
Sweet associated smells, honey, dried fruit (plum, fig), though a bit on rubber too.
    • Taste
Full bodied, a little hot, mainly on the honeyed barley and fruit. The rubber association stays too.
    • Finish
Still hot, slightly drying (which is normal), with fruit and ginger.

Not very complex but what a tasty dram this is. With adding water it turns cloudy very fast. looks like i added milk instead of water. never had a whisky this cloudy before
    • Nose
      Butterscotch,Creamy, Marshmellow
    • Taste
Butterscotch, very creamy, milk chocolat, fruity towards the end ( apple and pears )
    • Finish
More butterscotch and fruit even some spices

  15. Xstream scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

This is a very good quality whisky at this price. Adding water makes it very cloudy, always a good sign! More flavors.

N: Very creamy, i've never experienced such a creamy whisky :) Werther's, toffee, butter, fudge, sweet milk chocolate, white chocolate, creme brulee, pudding, vanilla, christmas cake, stewed apple & pear, chipolata, orange, lemon, citrus, some spices like nutmeg mostly , cloves and cinnamon.

T: Apple, pear, christmas cake, chipolata, creme brulee, vanilla pudding, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon and pepper.

F: Creme, spices - clove & pepper, chipolata and orange. Quite long, tad bitter, but then has a nice development with fruits and spices.

Great whisky at a great price!

  16. Roel scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

It's a good dram, but it burns a little. With water it gets extremely cloudy. Not often one does find a young and appealing Tamdhu at such a reasonable price. Recommended.

  17. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

N: fudge, butter, milk chocolate (koetjesreep), spices and vanilla
T: herbs, hickory sauce and spices - paprika
F: spices - cloves, butter, with water creamy and sweet

  18. KayMeertens scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

I have had several other casks from this range, and this one is still the creamiest one.
    • Nose
Sweet creamy toffee and milk chocolate (Meller candy), vanilla custard, cinnamon, stewed pear, plum, mint, orange, mocha and a bit of pepper.
    • Taste
Apples and pears cooked with cinnamon, topped with caramel sauce and vanilla custard and decorated with cloves. How's that for dessert? Water adds some honey but also makes it spicier.
    • Finish
Caramel sauce, apple compote and clove.
