    • Nose
At the beginning the typical big heavy cloud of smoke. He is definitely both sweeter and spicier than the 06.1.
The sweetness is much fruity. The Limousin barrels are clearly noticeable. It smells like berries and bright fruit (pear?) And has a little bit of syrup. Spicy oak tones underline the whole thing. It tingles in the nose instead of cooling, as at 06.1.
With the addition of water, the smoke swings away from the campfire towards the phenolic. It gets maritime with lots of algae and salty sea breezes. For the sweetness and the barrel completely in the background.
    • Taste
This is the smoke hammer! Tastes almost na Laphroaig. Lots of iodine, seaweed and peat smoke. Then it gets really warm on the tongue and on the back palate the typical notes of European oak rise. Dark chocolate and toffee.
    • Finish
      Long, smoky and warm.

Strong, overwhelming, especially on the nose. But now I have a bit of similar feeling like Kelpie, the less sometimes is more. But it was almost 86 points. :)
    • Nose
Smoke and ash, medicines, honey, salted caramel, big dose of apple, seaweed. Sweet, acidic, lively cognac notes.
    • Taste
Strong! Rose, honey, salted caramel, tobacco, punch, orange peel, salt, ash and smoke, spices.
    • Finish
      Long, tobacco, spices, smoke.

Everything in here what you are waiting for associating an Octomore. Nice Smoke and ashes, a lot of fruits (red fruits due to the Limousin Oak). Tar and tobacco. I like this one very much except of some light bitter notes at the finish line.Concerning price/performance ratio: 7/10
    • Nose
Smoke, ashes, medicinal (some iodine), red fruits, gummi bear tar, overripe apples.
    • Taste
Sweet spicy smoke. Tobacco, tar, cigar punch, red fruits, salt, ashes.
    • Finish
Long. Tobacco, ashes, red fruits. Ashes and fruits.

  9. Koalafant scored this whisky 93 points Expert Senior

Smoker with mega character! Explosive and complex
    Notes dated 23.09.2017 => 93/100
    • Nose
A herbal smoked note dominates the first impression. Then slowly but distinctly wine aromas with light acidity and hints of gooseberries, passion fruit, pineapple and lime are added.
    • Taste
A log fire with hints of malt, wood and herbs. In addition, subtle fruit notes and a very pleasant bitterness.
    • Finish
long, slightly burning and slightly bitter

Color: grainy gold?Legs: fairly thin, this definitely does not look like a high ABV pourNose: over-ripe dark plum, worn out rubber car tires, rotten melon, light honey, salted caramel, some smoke, briney seaweedPalate: briney honey, some rotten orange peels, heavy on the wood, some kind of vegetable (definitely not broccoli)Finish: disappointingly short, thin mouthfeel, some smoke on the backend, salted but dried out caramelBalance: fairly disjointed but some of the notes I got from the nose did pop back up in the finishUpdated Comment: originally scored an 80 but have since increased it to an 83 due to an amazing mesquite BBQ sauce nose that has appeared a little over 1.5 months since I've opened this bottle
