    • Nose
Refreshing, with green apples and a bit of lemon. A bit of a dull, dusty whiff, like grandma’s attic (that’s a first). There’s also a coastal note to this, a salty hint of sea breeze. Even seaweed, with some imagination. Interesting. Some more light fruits now, maybe apricot. Dried grass, the kind they give horses. A little bit nutty as well. Very much a summertime dram, so far. Nice.
    • Taste
Lovely arrival. Vanilla sweetness followed by quite a sharp rush which then quickly tingles on into fruity sweetness. A bit oily, thick. Slight bitter notes of liquorice and (roasted) nuts. Very fruity now. Citrus I would say, lemon mostly. That might explain the slight bitterness. The prickly feeling remains throughout, which I find really fascinating. A cereal note now as well, but only a bit. Still a summertime dram, still nice.
    • Finish
Longer than I would expect from a ‘light’ whisky. The fruity/vanilla sweetness remains, the tingle on the tongue only dies out at the very end. Really interesting.

A good but not great Littlemill, but one that I'm very happy to have.
    • Nose
Grassy, peanuts and almonds. There is also an appealing citrus note next to some white grapes.. There is also something of a cinnamon apple cake. It has a lightness, but also a sharpness. Very interesting. With some water it gets some of that maritime quality that Old Pulteney is known for.
    • Taste
It is fruitier than the nose. I get pineapple. Also woody (pine) and it has the same sharpness that the nose has. With water it is mustier and there is a distinct pistachio flavour.
    • Finish
Medium to long. Dry with a bit of an off note, but still enjoyable.

not the best Littlemill, just a good one.
    • Nose
the nose gives white chocolate, peach skins with some traces of ginger, cinnamon and peat.
    • Taste
nectarines, more whit chocolate, as the mouth-feel fattens to release some honey and lemon.
    • Finish
      medium long, dryness, oaky.

  7. MaltMartin scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Not one of the best Littlemil's for me.
    • Nose
Fresh and fruity. Orange peel. Floral notes. Wet grass and hay. Whiff of smoke.
    • Taste
Lemon and lime. Juniper berries. Also lots of hot spices of pepper and cloves. Agressive and astringent. It's amazing that several Littlemill expessions 1988 do remind me of chicken liver (!?) which I'm not very fond of...
    • Finish
      Medium long. Oakiness. Whiney. Dryness.

Producer`s Note:The nose gives white chocolate and peach skins with traces of ginger,

cinnamon and delicate peat.  The palate comes alive with nectarines and

more white chocolate as the mouth-feel fattens to release some honey and

lemon.  When excellent examples such as this appear they make

    Littlemill`s sad demise even sadder.
