    Tasted blind. Enthusiasm 4/5 Whisky n ° 1737
    • Nose
A well-balanced nose with fruity, malt, cashew nut, everything looks juicy and creamy.
    • Taste
In the mouth, melted, very mellow. Sherry soft, he is wise enough.
    • Finish
      Final quite opulent.

(Blinded) Pleasantly surprised, it's very good, with this little side Cooley / Irish very good. A real pleasure to taste it.
    • Nose
What a nice nose on fruity and sweet ... a beautiful greed is announced with butter, pastry and fruit yoghurt.
    • Taste
Spades lightly, we are on the fruits and the acidulous sweets
    • Finish
Nice length on the fruit, pastry and buttered. Gourmet finale!

A very old school dram. Could really pass for an older release (age or date-wise). I'm very fond of this kind of profile. Complex, not easy but rewarding.

    Tasting notes from december 2016.
    • Nose
Varnish, dried fruits, malt, spices. Kind of dusty and smoky. It might need aeration. Now it's more fruity and grassy. Apple and orange. Still these varnish/polish notes.
    • Taste
Dried fruits, oak, leather, orange notes again, spices. Slightly salty.
    • Finish
      Long, drying, smoky.

Craigellachie makes a good distillate. It's not a well-known distillery, but its juice is usually quite viscous, complex, and has a distinctive soft, warm funkiness (not springbank funk, but it's certainly there). Refill sherry? At first, I scored this only an 88, but over time, I came to appreciate this more.

A complex whisky that, once tamed, is really pleasant to drink. Too bad it is almost impossible to find today, just a few weeks after its release ...
    • Nose
We have a strange feeling to opening: between the youth of a green wood and the age of an attic closed for years, all very alcoholic. With aeration, everything is arranged. A first wave on yellow fruits, apple, melon, with vanilla tips. Then comes the sherry with very distinct orange, which takes the upper hand over the rest. Some notes of spices, wood. The whole is very complex, but really nice.
    • Taste
Always a lot of complexity. Wood, tobacco, dried fruit, rather oriented sherry. Very old school. We feel the leather club chair, the cigar and the jazz. It's really very interesting. With water, rounder, loses complexity, more drinkable.
    • Finish
A bit of bitterness, long on tobacco, orange, dried fruits.

Caramel nose, cereals, precious woods, hints of varnish, dried fruit, a little green fruit and anise. Powerful and sweet attack, big scale, powerful medium with a lot of spices. Finale very powerful, little astringency tannins and a little pepper.

  9. GlenSikkes scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

    Tasting Note by Cadenhead.
    • Nose
Fresh and grassy notes mix with redcurrants and raspberries.
    • Taste
A rich and spicy whisky with toffee running through the middle.
    • Finish
A big whisky, quite rich sherry notes with caramel and traces of black pepper.

    By Serge;

Craigellachie-Glenlivet 18 yo 1994/2013 (54.4%, Cadenhead, small batch, 432 bottles)  Colour: amber. Nose: the new series by Cadenhead is doing wonders again, this time with ‘incorporated OBE’ that blends a little metal polish, fino sherry, walnuts and dry tobacco. It’s very complex whisky, I’d have sworn to Vishnu this came from a 30 yo bottle, serious. Right an old black dumpy ;-). Also beautiful whiffs of shoe polish, engine oil and pu-erh tea. It’s all very tertiary, at just 18 years of age. It was a great cask, hope they’ve refilled it! With water: maybe not. There’s a faint vinegar coming out, whiffs of old wine barrel… But all that tends to go away, as usual. A little smoke now. Mouth (neat): wooah! Same impressions, same complexity, same bigness and same feeling of ‘great old bottle’. Various waxes and polishes, tobacco, leather, quinces, bergamots, Seville oranges, even touches of sugar cane, certainly a wee saltiness, more tobacco… This is impressive indeed. With water: even more of all that! Granted, water lets drying notes of cocoa powder come out, which is not obligatorily a good thing, and maybe quite some overinfused black tea too, but all that remains more than bearable. Finish: long, dry, waxy, phenolic. Comments: this is becoming a little embarrassing, all the new ‘black’ Cadenhead I could try so far (not all published yet) have been quite fantastic in my book. Let me swear to both Manco Capac and Alfred Barnard that I haven’t received one single penny from Cadenhead’s or any of their representatives (or any other bottlers or distillers by the way). Crikey, I shan’t give baddish scores just to look more ‘unbiased’, shall I? Now, regarding this little Craig', careful with water! SGP:462 - 90 points.
