Nose: sweet notes of shera, raisins, dried apricots, some marmalade and toffee
Flavor: Light dry sherry with a background of light toffee and chocolate aromas. Slightly sour in subsequent attempts. The notes are quite deep and the aroma is strong and clear.
Rating: 88 | 100 Short finish with a fairly strong hitting of sherry slightly sedimented. Quite an interesting whisky. The nose is very pleasant, unfortunately it is not too complex, but it has quite a strong aroma, which gives it a higher rating for me

Nose wax, nuts, candied orange. The mouth confirms the aromas of the nose with bitterness and more. Long finish, powerful, salty and bitter. Atypical but not my profile, the mouth is less greedy than the nose.

Nice but not my favorite Clynelish
    • Nose
      Quite cloudy, fruity, sulfur
    • Taste
      Concentrated, powerful, vaporous
    • Finish
      average on licorice

Tasting Notes from Mark Watt (WM Cadenhead):

Toffee, dry sherry, dried oranges, soya sauce, plums and quite meaty. Rich sherry, blackcurrants, light cayene pepper and poached pears. Very chewy. Red fruits, marzipan, soft soot and quite oily.

  9. magic_slim scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

A strange Clynelish, showing no distillery character at all.
    • Nose
Sweet chestnuts and sherry at first nosing with hints of sulphur. Quite indefinite and changing a lot. Caramel pudding, toffee, cherry jam, molasses … just to mention a few aromas. Pleasant but far from being excellent.
    • Taste
Powerful with a strange taste. Starts oily sweet, then getting dryer with notes of chestnuts, bark mulch, toffee, liquorice and leather. Indefinite again, as already suggested by the nose.
    • Finish
Medium long on notes of bark mulch, leaving a dry and velvety feeling on the tongue behind. Strong unsweetened tea.

Superb Clynelish, with a terribly pleasant nose. Very balanced, the sherry side knows how to be discreet but brings all its fruitiness to the dram. Everything is finesse, basta the demonstrative, long live the subtlety. I love this whisky, nothing to say. Everything is there, the spices, the fruit, the sap, the wax (although discreet compared to the usual profile) of the mineral / saline and a little touch of sexy farmhouse ... Pleasant, fun, drinkable. Over the top.

  11. PitchBlack scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Quite dirty nose (definitely not a nosing-whisky), but the excellent and typical taste compensates.

  12. Bishlouk scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

A very beautiful complexity, all round despite the salty and peppery waves. A Clynelish very different from those I already bus, but excellent! With water (he did not need it, but I tried anyway): No change in the nose, but the mouth becomes astringent and safe, yuck! This Clynelish fears water, worse than a Mogwai! To avoid.
    • Nose
Waw! Marzipan, vanilla, very sweet and pastry. Grilled almonds, honey.
    • Taste
Shivers, ho yes! A wave of salted caramelized sugar mix, a pepper candy thereafter. But is it really a Clynelish? The profile does not look like a standard Clynelish anyway.
    • Finish
Salt sprinkles the lips, a woody wave invades the throat. All coated with honey.
