Good whisky. Taste already succeeded. Personally, the mix of the many finishes is a bit too much. In terms of price, it may be a bit too expensive in terms of quality.

Good whisky. A little too much wine / sherry
    • Nose
Much wine and sherry cover almost all other scent nuances.
    • Taste
Tasty very full. Overflowing the wine / sherry portion that covers many notes. Finally, the pleasant bitterness of the oak.
    • Finish
Medium length with long lasting oak and the decaying fruit of wine / sherry finish.

A busy nose that continues on the palate. A rather heavy sherry whisky that cannot hide its un-Scottish roots IMHO. Very enjoyable nonetheless.
    • Nose
Initially sweet sherry profile with lots of dried fruit. Associations of smoked meat and sour dough, as well as wholegrain bread.
    • Taste
Sweet wholegrain bread and malt sugar, plum Eau-de-vie and faint sulfur.
    • Finish
Medium-long. Warming with drops of caramel and mild oak spice.

    Tasty and uncomplicated,
    • Nose
Weinig, Sherry comes through. Sweet, slightly nutty.
    • Taste
Slightly thin, even here subtle wine flavors. Nutty with trail mix and a hint of raisin.
    • Finish
      Medium long, fruity.

    • Taste
Strong sweetness, powerful, caramel, butterscotch, coffee, very soft and harmonious with roasted aromas.
    • Finish
Strong sweetness, caramel, marzipan, fruits / citrus, later slightly bitter. Very harmonious medium-long finish.

  9. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Complex, sweet, tasty, fat, yummy, as usual with Glen Els, barrel and sweetness dominate clearly, for some it will be more liquor than whisky, if you like, the 50 € are fair.
    • Nose
very sweet, nut-nougat cream, honey, milk chocolate, marzipan, slightly spicy (cinnamon, nutmeg), sweet sherry, cooked plums, a touch of leather
    • Taste
strong sweetness (nutty, milk chocolates), but equally strong spiciness (cinnamon, pepper) and herbs (hay, herbal liqueur, almost herb bitter), some plum jam, beet syrup, full-bodied and intense
    • Finish
long, first chocolate, then pepper, leather, very dry mouthfeel

  10. Dramned! scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

Compared to my first German whisky - the Sloupisti - the Glen Els is much rounder and more complex and clearly more towards whisky. From the different ripening in quite impressive barrels I could discover almost nothing - no wine aroma, no tannins. This Glen Els is a long way from being bad and is way better than the Spreewald-Plörre, but the unusual notes are really not my thing and it will stay with this sample. < https://dramned.wordpress.com/2016/11/21/glen-els-the-journey-43/ >
    • Nose
First a light fruity character with overripe fruit, a lot of beautiful vanilla, floral-floral aromas, bitter almonds, pickled cucumbers, green olives and a very light metallic note. I also have some spicy oak in my nose. Most of it - and a slightly noticeable glue note - reminds me more of a bourbon than a malt.
    • Taste
In the mouth then an extremely sugary, slightly grassy and very creamy sweetness like a grain, hardly any fruit, harsh oak and then violent floral herbal notes - I have the feeling, rather a light herb liqueur instead of a whisky in the glass to have. With time comes the beautiful vanilla again, combined with some caramel.
    • Finish
In the fairly short ending dominate mostly grassy-sweet notes, creamy Eierpunsch and a little fruit.
