This is the ‘Triticale’ whiskey [around 4yo], with a [work in progress] four month sherry cask finish - 'supplied' at The Whiskey Weekender 2015 [Oval Space, London], for those ‘in the know’.
N: After finding the other expressions in the range frankly rough as, this is much softer and more rounded. There’s lots of grain character with a light sweetness, a little wax and with the illusion of age.
T: Lots of abv zing, a touch of scrub. Oily/waxy into the finish
F: Vanilla corn, very husky, very waxy. Lots of corn traits.
C: It's still rough, but compared to the other expressions available at the time [March '15], this sherry finished version is a transformation. I’d expect to see more Sherry cask whiskey’s from Dry Fly in the near future.
Scores a [provisional] B-
