A quick comparison with the Springbank 12 CS (WID: 105550).

The Whisky Chancellor is not only darker in color, but also darker in the nose and less fresh than the 12 CS. The smoke is different too. At Whisky Chancellor it reminds a bit of frankincense and is a bit heavier. The 12er CS seems easier. Rather dirty than smoky.
In the mouth, the impression of the nose continues. The Whisky Chancellor is dunker, heavier and fuller than the 12 CS.

Both really delicious malts, each one different.
The 12er CS is anyway a bank and always a welcome guest on the shelf. The Whisky Chancellor does not exist anymore. But would he still be available?

There's sulphur in there but all within the limits.
    • Nose
Cherry, plum, sulphur, raisin, bramble, caramel, mango and pineapple. First the cask influence, then the distillery character.
    • Taste
Mango, prune, peat, cherry, bramble, caramel and pineapple. With water a little coconut.
    • Finish
Cherry, pineapple, caramel, dark chocolate and peat.

Very nice jumper, what for the oldschool fans who want a little more smoke. :)
    • Nose
Yellow fruits, sweetness of the sherry barrel, camphor, apricot, green apple, pear and melon, a touch of campfire is included, charred oak, beautiful malt, walnut and autumn leaves, nut chocolate, heath meadow and slight Esthernoten, leather
    • Taste
The fall foliage again, hefty charred oak, beautiful old school cambpeltown, apricot dried and black pepper, an already black toast, some orange bitters and leather
    • Finish
Chocolate with some nuts, smoky notes stay there, dry, malt and some grapefruit peel, medium length

http://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=272 Color: full gold Nose: Sweet sherry keg, sugar, caramel, sticky honey, cardboard, leather and raisins. Overall, very sweet, but also provided with angular wood flavors. Taste: Immediately sweet and salty, causing the tongue to tingle. Then even sweeter with sherry and mellow orange, mango and papaya. With black peppercorns and leather. Wood is only below ground. Finish: Medium length - currant and chocolate crystallize from the later on the tongue, and towards the end smoke flavors are added. 87 points (Nose: 88 / Taste: 87 / Finish: 86)

    Springbank 1999-2013 (Campbeltown, Scotland)
13 years, 54.8% alc., "Fresh sherry", selected and botteled for www.whiskykanzler.de , Cask 368,

Nose: Beautiful onset of sweet sherry, dark fruits, spicy but also fresh, beautifully complex. Behind the fruit comes the oak, which is still very mild. It comes earthy, but also chocolate, not bitter, more milk ... chocolate. Over time, more aromas open, the sweetness gives way - dark fruits and sea air remain.

Palate: sherry, currants, raisins and then beats the spice, followed by a tantalizing sweetness. Nothing dominates, the flavors alternate again and again. Round and complex. What's left is some spicy oak.

Finish: Long and tickling, then warming to the stomach. A great finish, here the oak is very strong!

Conclusion: A great sherry whisky, not as sweet as fine as many Glendronach, rather complex and spicy. Of the three Springbanks of the Whisky Chancellor this is by far the most beautiful malt.

    92/100 points (tasted 2014, approx. 65 €) posted on my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/notesofwhisky .
