    • Nose
      Floral, kirsch, waxy, cedar wood

Spirity, spicy (cinnamon, pepper), oranges, nutty

  3. Ivynor scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

An interesting dry sherry, nice, unfortunately much too expensive for the proposed quality. 86+ / 87-
    • Nose
Dried fruits, a lot of hazelnuts, praline. A nice nose of dry sherry. Some strange notes of dry hay, dust.
      With aeration, morello cherry, cocoa.
      Unsweetened set.
    • Taste
dry sherry, slightly creamy texture, walnut, hazelnuts, sour cherry. A little vanilla and candy sugar.
    • Finish
Medium, on morello cherry, sugar, together a little earthy.

The nose starts on sherry, with plum and balsamic vinegar, then we have hay, leather, green banana. The aeration brings notes of tobacco and cassis. In the mouth the attack is relatively sweet but the fruits are there as well as spices (many spices same). Always these notes of leather and hay. The finish is long, on spices, hay and cold tobacco.

deep golden color, sherry nose on citrus fruits, wax, chocolate in the bottom. Mouth quite sweet, lots of citrus, especially orange, honey, tart, tobacco, always wax, a little bitterness and spices on the finish. Pretty good length.

    L'ennui total.
    • Nose
    • Finish
Poire, caramel au lait, alcool, bois toasté. Le poivre explose d'un coup.

  7. Bishlouk scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Sweet pear dominates. Slight citrus acidity. The sherry influence is discreet. Wood and apricot after aeration.
    • Taste
Big bitterness of citrus zest, astringency. This past cape, a bit of salted caramel and woody honey.
    • Finish
      Average. Explosion of pepper spices.

    Very nice sherry influence.

What I really like about this Auchriosk is its great complexity. The sherry is also very well integrated with this whisky and you can spend a whole evening with this dram! An excellent choice!

  10. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
creamy fruits - orange, nuts - pistachio, dusty like very old whisky, fudge, coffee and earthy
    • Taste
soft spices, some bitter fruits, some smoke, saw dust and honey
    • Finish
wine gums, some liquorice, citrus and grains

Pim is right. This is a very nice whisky with an outspoken coriander profile. I didn't detect any influence of sherry by the way.
    • Nose
Lots of nutiness. Old furniture? Figs and dates as well. Rubber. Earthy notes. There's also some kind of dustiness in it, which I like.
    • Taste
Waxy and quite spicy. Blood oranges and grapefruits. Sappy oak. It's very lively. Later on coriander and ginger.
    • Finish
      Long. Warming. Bitter-sweetness. Cloves. Tanninic.

I like those wringing tastes that you encounter, tasting Auchroisk. This one has a specially unusual twist. Earth, rubber, crude oil with some exotic fruit (jack fruit?) lingering in the back. Strange. The mouth feel is oily and it reaches your oral cavity in all corners. The finish is long, leaving the question 'what the hell am I drinking?. But okay, is this weird liquid any good? Yes, I think it's very good!
