For some whiskies, it can be hard to write down a lot of tasting notes because there simply is not much happening. Imagine the exact opposite of a peated Islay malt - that's Kilbeggan. Light, sweet and indistinctly floral, the aroma disintegrates into hints of cereals, vanilla and peach. Tasting thin, bland but less spirity than expected, there are notes of caramel candies, bitter honey and distant oak. There is no real finish, it just fades away. A harmless, mass-produced Irish blend which is light on every aspect, so do not feel guilty to put this into Irish coffee.

    Very shy.
    Flat profile.
Good for mixing or when a celebration is over the point where the taste is perceived great.
But you do not have to take a nosing glass out of the cupboard for the Kilbeggan.

Nice whiskey. Not very complex and not necessarily to enjoy a nice whiskey in the evening, but for a celebration, etc. quite suitable.

So the alcoholic sharpness does not do him any good.
Nose and finale ok, but actually boring.

Works artificially with heavy alcohol, ok tender fruity and some malt. With some time, vanilla will come through. Just nothing special, ... ok will be a bit malty, that's it.
    • Taste
      72 72
Rather spicy and very thin, but the appeal of some malt is covered by grain.
    • Finish
      73 73
Man may say rather short, but the oak remains a bit and even comes through the vanilla again .... aha.
