  1. irrerelevant scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

    does not look young or old, but mature, the density and complexity indicate a part of older whiskys, the onset and the strength and peffrigkeit on a young part. The combination of both white to please, with and without water, multi-faceted with independent notes that you might find otherwise at Springbank or Benromach. This malt shows how NAS works!
    • Nose
      Dense, full, sweet sherry, marzipan, amaretto, rosewater, caramel,   Teriyaki sauce, alcohol, wild cherry, something cool / fresh (menthol, mint), children Em-eucalyptus, vanilla, pepper, licorice snails, clay, damp cellar, herbal tea, some europ. Oak, New Year's Bull
      with little water : the dirty clay / cellar - note is clearer, this comes leather, tobacco, the sherry steps back a bit, and the cherry comes ... but how! really juicy, black powder (!)
    • Taste
      Bitter-sweet, full, dense, thick sherry, slightly alcoholic ( does not bother) , slightly salty, spicy, pepper, cherry, neat caramel, marzipan and licorice, gets dry with oak
      with little water: Spicy, but still sweet, not so dense, but much more sophisticated, barely alcoholic, sherry, vanilla, cherry, caramel, herbs and mild europ. Oak, plus this awesome warehouse earthiness, leather and black powder
    • Finish
      Long, dry, sweet, sherry marzipan, menthol and bitter oak with little water : Middle-long, herbs, sherry, mild europ. Oak, pepper, gets a little dry to the end

    Blind tasting of a sample.
    • Nose
      Fudge, floral notes, pepper and juicy yellow fruits. Cranberries, tannins and forest fruits like blackberries and cherries.
    • Taste
      Full with tobacco, coffee beans, chocolate, orange, syrup and cereals.
    • Finish
      Nuts, some syrup, orange peel and some liquorice.

    beautiful sherried whisky, highly recommended.
    • Nose
      sweet and savoury profile, freshly cut grass, lots of citrus; fresh lemon sorbet; oregano, thyme; the alcohol is very noticeable on the nose;  almond flakes; some dry fruits.
      With water - more nuts and dried fruits
    • Taste
      a bit prickly but robust and oily body; sticks to the tongue;
      sweet arrival, custard cream, nutty, cedar box; tobacco leaves;
      With water: some fresh and dry fruits (apricot) come up.
    • Finish
      nutty, nicely drying and sweet

  5. KayMeertens scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    One of the best bang-for-your-buck whiskies on the market! Good mix of sherry and bourbon casks. Both have their distinct influence, but the sherry is clearly the strongest.
    • Nose
      Caramel, almond, cherry, plum, vanilla, raspberry, mocha, orange, citrus, a whiff of smoke and subtle spices. A little hairspray initially, but that's gone quickly.
    • Taste
      Creamy caramel, orange, almond, cappucino, plum, blueberry, cherry, apple and eucalyptus.
    • Finish
      Caramel fudge, orange, mocha, milk chocolate, eucalyptus, malt, almond and a little smoke.
