- tasted with JJ
sample from Whiskybase, thanks Menno!
takes a deep bow...
bourbon fruits - apple, pear and peach, honey, dusty, creamy - advocaat and vanilla
berries, yellow fruits, honey, creamy, cake baking mix, fantastic bourbon fruits, soft spices and waxy
peach, vanilla, caramel and spun sugar
- Ranking: 1st nose, 2nd finish, 3rd mouth
the nose is quite interesting and pleasant
the mouth loses noticeable alcohol
The finish is delicious with lots of apricot jam and some smoke
There is a lack of tension and depth
Overall, this whisky stumbles at various points
and can not convince for his age and his price
slightly smoky adhesive note
Woodruff & herbs
Almond & raw cake dough
with water much fruity (sweeter) and slightly maritime
then alcoholic burning on the tongue
not better with water
Apricot kernels (slightly bitter)
- An excellent Bunna. Thank you Whiskybase for the sample.
Starts sweet with lovely fruity and vanilla notes. Sesame brittle and sweet exotic fruit salad enriched with vanilla sugar. Also some Lush soap. A little bit of coconut, cake, a whiff of smoke and peat. An excellent nose.
Warming with citrus fruits (oranges and grapefruits) at first mouthfeel. Grassy and earthy with a wee bit of salt and hints of smoke and peat.
Long, spicy and zesty. Becomes slightly dry and ends velvety.
Give it time, and then.. Ow.. This nose is devine. It surpasses perfection. Very fruity, very full, very bunna, very subtle. Really great. Waxy. Fruits: red, white, dried, citrus, everything! Also honey, marzipan, vanilla. All perfectly in harmony.
Lost for words.. Can it really be this nice? Ok, get a hold of your self: again very waxy. Again a lot of fruit: melon, citrus (grapefruit). Everything coated in a layer of honey. A bit grassy and malty. Intense taste, very intense.
I want to cry..
It says "butt" but more like ex-bourbon cask to me. Vanilla and white fruits like pears, apples, guava, honey dew. Also some lemons. A lot of fruits, yes, but this is not wickedly fruity. Ginger honey. White pepper. Good, but I was expecting something heavier and more precise. This is a bit all over the place.
Lots of shaved coconuts along with some white fruits again and also raw veggies like daikon and white carrots. White peony root herb. Not supremely fruity. Pretty good mouthfeel, waxy. Not perfect though. Clearly, there is some excessive wood spice.
Quality dram. Lingering wood spice. Again, not as fruity as I would like.
Surprisingly fresh at first, doesn't seem that old at all. Pear, sweet lime, banana, green pesto, a bit of broth and a whiff of smoke.
Tobacco, leather, crème brûlée, pear, strawberry, apricot, banana and red apple.
Tobacco, smoke, apricot, malt and a bit of banana.
- Had the opportunity to try this last year in November (thank you Michael!) and now had the chance to retry this. It is just fantastic! My bottle has thick oily white flakes at the bottom, no worries it is quite normal for these bottles.
Apples, pears, peach honey, some grassy element. Wow! Some wet pebbles, a bit of fragant. All very nice and balanced. Grapefruits emerge, some creamy vanilla and coconut.
Full on dried oranges, little bit of heat. Honey, limestone, lemon, marzipan. Could be a little bit thicker to be honest. Vanilla, something herbal, pears, peaches. Getting a bit of red chilli here now.
Great finish, really shifts gears here compared to the taste. Palate seems to lose a bit of power but the finish is long! Again peaches, some pears, apples, some of the lime is still there. Some coastal element here a bit of briny elements. And it could be imagination but a whiff of smoke.
- Excellent mole, bright bourbon aging, the aroma is very minimal, but very deep, but the taste / finish is just a concentrate, very juicy, thick, deep, in development and the flavor adds strongly.
Open, dry, freshly planed board, vanilla, thinner, light floral notes, lemon peel, grain, some fresh vegetables - daikon, cabbage; spicy field grasses, medicinal motifs.
Powerful, rich, corn, oak, creamy sweetness, vanilla, pepper wave, ginger, some tropical fruits, banana, mineral-metallic hues, industrial-oil notes.
Spicy, warming, vanilla, oak, light pepper, ginger, corn, dried herbs, very dense, thick.
