  1. Helgo scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Just once again looked at the price and annoyed me that I almost fought him down yesterday evening in the "passing".
I already had some 18 year old Sherry Macallan and they never let me down.
Too bad they are not available anymore or within reach.
Compared to the 12yo just twice as complex and intense.

  2. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

I'm not a fan of Macallan now and think it's overrated, but I'd have expected something more stunning from a legend like the 18 Sherry. Hm. Can you drink? But you can also treat yourself to a Glenfarclas ...
    • Nose
dry, spicy, oak. and old carpet from the attic. ;-)
    • Taste
Dried fruit, wood, very dusty-dry mouthfeel, almost a bit furry, some bitter tea
    • Finish
briefly bitter-sweet, then stays longer the dry tea bitterness and some sharpness

    he is good
    but stumbles towards the finish
could have been good 90 otherwise

    mmh, I like them indeed
    • Nose
      what a nice smell
Forest Soil, Sherry and After Eight
Black tea that has grown too long and becomes bitter
      a touch of pickled cucumbers
      Chocolate and raisins
    • Taste
      nice soft start
      mashed ripe sweet cherries
      raisins
      chocolate
      full pleasant aromas
      something menthol
on the palate and throat slightly alcoholic
    • Finish
      long
      getting bitter
      dry chocolate and moist fruit
      bitterness
      barrel flavors

  4. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

Great, my first old Macallan, I found the 12er already good, but that's awesome!
    • Nose
Wow, yummy, a dream of sherry, mixed with a great spiciness, the barrel has done a great job here, bittersweet chocolate, espresso, dried plums, once again Mon Cherie, in the background also fresh lemon
    • Taste
Only pleasantly sweet sherry, full-bodied with dry fruits, is then replaced by a great spice, both wonderful in the interaction, hazelnuts, espresso
    • Finish
Nutty, grapes, chocolate, thank God, not bitter, pleasant

  5. GuyIncognito scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Nose: Dusty, sherry, intense sticky sweetness, leather, sandalwood, grape must, chocolate Mouth: oh yes ... sweet and powerful with pine-honey, here too leathery / dry notes, raisin and caramelised apples, very intense and aromatic, sulphured prunes Finish: Starts dry and becomes softer and milder over time, dark plum jam with licorice
