Pretty straightforward but really good at what it does. Lovely signature Springbank distillate that is great even at what is (presumably) a young age.
    • Nose
Great stuff. Subtle farmy notes with a touch of breakfast cereal and just a whiff of peat. A bit of brine, sweet porridge and a touch of orange, papaya and lemon peel. Lovely waxy and old school.
    • Taste
Somewhat bolder and peatier with a nice fruity side, mainly pink grapefruit. Waxy notes make an encore, as well as a touch of menthol and a whiff of cardboard.
    • Finish
      Lingering menthol and soft peat.

A subtle Campbelltown Malt. Clear line, pretty good.

Edit: after repeated tasting and enjoying much more than just a good malt. Very well. Straightforward. Maritime. Peaty. 89 / 90P.
    • Nose
Smoke, mineral notes, cowshed, lemon, malt, bacon, salt, lacquer, frankincense, myrrh.
    • Taste
Maritime, salt, lemon, malt, smoke, oak, ash, chimney, pork meat, fish with salt crust, herbs, camphor, menthol, sweet and full of herbs and salt.
    • Finish
      Martim, fish, meat, herbs.

  5. Calmar scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Pleasant smoky silence with smoothed corners, neat, but powerful and full, as if Nikolai Valuev sitting in a tuxedo and a butterfly at a violin concert in the Philharmonic.
    • Nose
Light smoke, rubber, soot, peat, smoked meat, the flavor is rounded, smoothed, without sharpness and kykuchesti.
    • Taste
Sweetness, oak, burnt sugar, smoke, soot, hot pepper, creamy tones, boiled condensed milk.
    • Finish
Warm up, orange and lime crusts, very light ginger, cream, burnt sugar, a little oak.

  7. Andytka3 scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Energetic bourbon cask character leading the packs with clove and
plums. Deep fried banana and fragrant honeydew melon creeps in
effortlessly with masculine burn wood smokes.

P- Punchy and tongue numbing. Sweet malt and salty smokes, with intense spiciness building up over time.

F- Fiery and long. Acidic mouthfeel. Drying and gum twitching. Bitter herbs at the back. Decay notes lurking.

Blind tasting. I seem to like these Longrow's.
    • Nose
Briny - salty, peaty, citrus and pepper. Oily, curry, some cloves and mint.
    • Taste
Pepper, waxy, mint and some parfume notes (not unpleasant). Orange, peat and smoke.
    • Finish
Medium drying with citrus, vanilla, spices and waxy notes.

    January 2007 Whiskyfun

    10 yo 100 proof (57%, OB, 2006)

    Colour: straw. Nose: quite expressive
but a little weird like often with
the recent Longrows, with lots of
notes of violets and rotting oranges,
the whole becoming then quite mashy.
    Also notes of Cologne, lavender…
Truly bizarre for my tastes but
I know many guys like it. Little
peat in this one, in any case.

    better now, more ‘classical’.
Bold, peatier, nicely sweet and fruity
    (lots of crystallised grapefruit,
    kumquat and orange). Better balanced
than on the nose, for sure. Goes on
with hints of gin fizz, Fanta (or
Orangina) and a long, peppery and
orangey finish. Quite a good one,
    in fact, markedly less ‘erratic’
    and ‘uncontrolled’ than
    most finishings the distillery’s
been issuing in recent times in my
    opinion. 83 points.
