    Nose: fruity, pear, apple, vanilla, slightly burnt charcoal, some tar, very complex and deep, some peat and shell beach, orange, light caramel and cane sugar Taste: light sweetness, fruity with apple and pear, then light peat Finish: long, peaty with iodine and tar, bappige sweetness, getting dry tolerates water, becomes sweeter and rounder in the nose The whiskey takes you on a very long and interesting flavor trip - awesome stuff - 89/90 points

    Bottle atypical for its slightly offbeat taste; a little expensive in the absolute but what a beautiful packaging and what a beautiful story.
    • Nose
      Delicate notes of stewed fruits (apples, pears), grassy and floral notes, to which are added some spices, citrus zests (oranges) and more earthy notes on the end.
    • Taste
      Harmonious blend, quite thick and melted with flavors both sweet (fruits, caramelized cereals and honey) and slightly bitter (coffee, orange zest). Then develop darker notes (humus) and a damp, peaty smoke.
    • Finish
      Long enough, on a beautiful fruity, tending to dry gently while persists a sweet smoke that has developed while remaining a bit bitter.

    An interesting, good malt with rough edges. If the malts were around 1900 then they were really good. The price is completely covered, but owed to this special project!
    [Color] straw;
    • Nose
      fruity (pears, possibly also apples), strong, a hint of vanilla, woody, spicy, oak;
    • Taste
      a strong onset, very fruity, buttery, clearly caramel, spices, oak; quite complex, the alcohol is well integrated;
    • Finish
      medium-length, fruity, very harmonious finish; in the end spicy oak;

    The nice thing is that this blend has a pronounced peat note. If that was 100 years ago the Wald- and Meadowblind, then I want to have it again, but not for the 100 Euro, which are announced. But really delicious.
    • Nose
      is relatively young, a lot of pear and a nice hint of smoke. Slightly grassy.
    • Taste
      In the mouth then strong, fruity, nice light peat notes.
    • Finish
      medium long, with a little tart wood, a little herbaceous and a nice slightly peaty aftertaste.

    Very pleasant - if only it was cheaper it would be well worth a punt on a case.
    • Nose
      81 81
      Dry sherry notes, leafy, the alcohol does not singe the nostrils like some drinks I've tried.
    • Taste
      84 84
      Gently warming - pleasantly caresses the palate. Very moreish.
    • Finish
      81 81
      Soon fades to a pleasant memory, but one which makes you smile.

    Balance (21) ... which is not bad for the lens hood. Funny blend, I did not drink a lot of old blends ... but this one is similar to them .. Apparent sherry influence (85)
    • Nose
      The aroma immediately recognizes the old blend ... glue, rotten fruit ... peat notes ... bread notes ... pastries, vanilla gingerbread ... cardboard ... unleavened pastry ... grass (22)
    • Taste
      The taste of alcohol ... sweet ... creamy ... waxy ... orange (21)
    • Finish
      Finish fruit, sweet, sweet ... sweet peat ... buttery ... slightly spicy (21)

    Nose is really nice. Sharp fruits, slight soot, a bit of peat/smoke, some wax, and some bitterness. It does open up with time, and becomes sweeter, thought never really sweet as such. More into green unripe apples and the like, but the sourness/austere notes disappear a bit.

    Taste is a bit overwhelming to start with. Austere, bitter, sooty, with some wax. But again, given time, it opens up, becoming a bit more melodious and nice. Green fruit, vanilla, some peat/smoke. Bitter fruits.Finish is long and bitter, with the promise of sweetness lurking in the background.

    Could definitely see this being drunk on the Southpole. It's demanding, austere, but also heartwarming!

    However, price is totally unacceptable. It shouldn't cost more than 80£/100€, and that's stretching it. I paid 158£/201€, and I feel ripped off by that.
    Still, if you can find it for a good price, give it a go, it's definitely not a bad whisky.

    Tasted 10/01/2014.
    • Nose
      Licht scherpe tinteling, bloemen, citrusachtig, hint van vanille.
    • Taste
      Vanille, romig, vol, (eiken)hout, hinten van zoute drop. Blijft plakken in de mond , minder in de keel (maar wel lekker warm).
