Whisky Reviews for Aureum 1865 05-year-old

7 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 70.58 points

  1. Gloin scored this whisky 62 points Expert Senior

The nose is still the best. In the mouth it reminds me of the Greenore of Cooleys, a single grain. The departure is only bad. This has nothing to do with whisky, as I imagine.
    • Nose
Floral and fruity, yellow fruits, mirabelle plums, slightly metallic, sweet, slightly menthol, not really like a whisky
    • Taste
The first impression is metallic, then something like rotten fruit, but very sweet.
    • Finish
Bitter and artificial, unfortunately longer than short

  2. Schleifreak scored this whisky 74 points Expert Junior

One has the impression that the fruit distillery is the core business. Maybe later / older bottlings are better.
    • Nose
      75 75
      Fruity, hay, flower meadow
    • Taste
      75 75
Fruity, mirabelle, later a bit spicy
    • Finish
      72 72
Rather briefly, does not stay in memory

  3. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 60 points Connoisseur

Difficult, he has passages, which I find nice, but in sum, no one I would like to drink often.
    • Nose
Sweet, some smoked bacon in the background, malt, pear. Quite easy.
    • Taste
Malt in the mouth, sweet, slightly alcoholic, the mouthfeel is quite oily.
    • Finish
The finish is peppery, sweet and woody, it remains quite a lot of wood smoke, dry.

Blindtasting The nose is still best, although the question is in the room, whether this is a whisky. Very floral and fruity top notes like a Gerstler halt. Also fruity on the go, but also alcoholic and a bit bitterness. Short finish.

That's not my whisky, unfortunately. From the described flower meadow and the fruity freshness I could not notice.
    • Nose
      Fruity, a hint of turpentine.
    • Taste
      No increase to the smell.
    • Finish
      Short and sweet. Mild.

  7. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

The fresh fruit in the nose and the sweetness in the taste initially hope, but as soon as you go deeper into it ... they would have preferred to make fruit.
    • Nose
intense fresh-fruity (more fruit than whisky), yellow apple, banana, looks slightly artificial and pungent, with a hint of vanilla and toffee
    • Taste
very sweet, toffee, slight sharpness and again this artificial touch ... and none of the fruit from the smell
    • Finish
      bitter, artificial, a bit spicy
