Whisky Reviews for Campbeltown Loch 05-year-old SpD

7 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 78.59 points

  1. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

a young blend, which is characterized by its light maritime peat influences. Could also go through as a young malt. Is not overly complex, but you should not expect that in the price range either. A pleasant everyday dram, if nothing has to be complicated.
    • Nose
fruity, a little pear, malty, bread dough, subtle peat notes.
    • Taste
mild and soft, again some pear, but also peat notes and a spicy pepperiness, unfortunately also a few metallic notes of the youth.
    • Finish
fruity, slightly peaty, slightly maritime, slightly tart.

  3. HunterRomario scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

According to available information, this blend includes Longrow and Sprigbank. Although it does not look very attractive in its very light color, it has something to offer in its category, I recommend it to taste.
    • Nose
Fresh fruit (mainly apples) with some honey and peat, citrus, I even feel Laphroaig's iodine. Aroma is interesting, lighter, but very good blend. (83 b)
    • Taste
The body is thinner, a bit sparse, with peat, honey, wood, which is mainly in the flavor. (78 b)

    Very quaffable Campbeltowner
and a good introduction to peaty whisky in my opinion. With a price tag of only
22 EUR it is quite affordable as well. Thanks, Pat!
    • Nose
      The nose starts fresh
and fruity (think apples and apricots) with a soft note of peat underneath
which translates into leather, floral elements, hay and a bit of silt. The
first whiff even reminds me a bit of Ledaig, but once the jute and cardboard
appear on the nose, I know this is Springbank.
    • Taste
      Quite oily on the
palate and immediately spicy. Mildly salty, again. Loads of sweet malt before
the fruit reveals itself in the shape of orchard fruits and a bit of apricot.
    • Finish
      The finish is rather
short with a smidgen of oak at the death.

  6. Georges scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
      Fresh, fruity (apples, apricots), leathery
    • Taste
      Oily, spicy, sweet malt, fruity
    • Finish
      Rather short, oaky

  7. Erik Elixir did not rate this whisky Connoisseur
