Whisky Reviews for Springbank 1997

5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.00 points

  1. Archer scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

    Delicious!
    • Nose
God, that's cute for a Springbank. But great: mango, melon, papaya, passion fruit, with a slightly mineral touch, just enough so that the sweetness of the fruit does not slide into the candy. Interesting: after some time, the impression of almost overburdened sweetness has almost completely disappeared and the Springbank character with minerals, salt and only light fruit has again prevailed.
    • Taste
Pleasantly strong, grape sweet and fine salty. In addition to caramel, chocolate, freshly brewed coffee, some oak. Somewhat kräutrig and slightly tart with time.
    • Finish
Long and warming, less fruity than on the tongue, dry, mineral, slightly salty.

    Alcohol very well integrated.
Enthusiasm 4/5 (on two sips in evening tasting) Whisky n ° 1300
    • Nose
In the beginning, on the barrel with fruity notes - such as Mirabelle plum - then the very "sooty" smoke from Springbank comes into play. Generous malt.
    • Taste
Nice balance between spices, melted side, cooked fruit.
    • Finish
      Very flexible.

  4. schero scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

Very cool. Who has? I want!
    • Nose
A salty mixture of melon and bitter orange peel, behind it is a certain flowery waxiness, the orange peel become more dominant over time and hint of a little spicy oak, water takes something the complexity, but it all adds up to an aroma of caramelized lightly scorched orange peel together
    • Taste
The alcohol squeezes, again salty orange peel, light smoke, with water it is deliciously creamy and less alcoholic, overall you get on the tongue exactly what you want from a springbank: a kick in the butt
    • Finish
The orange pulls through, the smoke is now better felt, but quickly gone, it remains a lovely sweet and slightly oak afterburners
