floral, then spicy, then malt, vanilla, a little dust, then a little salted caramel and light smoke.back of dry grass.

This whisky shows a beautiful restrained sherry influence, one you can only really find in long-matured liquid. The nose is fruity, while the palate is a bit more muscular. Love it!
    • Nose
Mature and subtle, with a clear sherry influence, but nothing too overpowering. Vibrant notes of orange, plums, apricot marmalade and peach, followed by sweet fudge, and with a whisper of burlap and tobacco.
    • Taste
That nose is a tough act to follow, but this whisky is up to the task. Some charred oak, followed by bitter grapefruit, lemon and orange peel, as well as a whiff of smoke, and a peppery edge.
    • Finish
      Lingering spiciness. Medium to long.

What a great opportunity for just over 100 euros to hit the head in Belgium. A brilliant whisky, not a bomb but a lot of red fruit, a tad of smoke and a very long finish with a touch of pepper.

  8. Bishlouk scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Very special ! This whisky is clearly not a daily dram, so it is hard to pin down and tame. I like that kind of difficulty. But once it is circumscribed, it is revealed and it's super good.
    • Nose
Pretty indefinable, it's subtle and melted. A lot of ginger.
    • Taste
Predominance of spices and smoked bacon.
    • Finish
Peppery finish, the smell of smoked meat goes up in the nose.

    Bottler`s Notes :

    Colour : Bright golden amber.

Nose : Light flowery notes, orange peel, toffee and a hint of smoke. Clementine.

Palate : Burnt smokiness and caramelized sugar. Herby with fragrant lemon thyme on a long finish.

Conclusion : A beautifully aged and complex revelation from Macduff.

One of the best whiskies I recently had. Very balanced, very complex - tasting like whiskies from the good old times. I really recommend this one!
