Whisky Reviews for Clontarf 1014 - Single Malt

9 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 76.78 points

  1. diamond2000 scored this whisky 73 points Expert Junior

Aroma: open, a lot of vanilla, sweet pastries, baked apples, lemonade “cream-soda”, in the background freshly cut grass, flowers, slipping soapy notes.

Taste: watery, citrus bitterness, white bread crumb, herbal infusion, lemonade notes.

Finish: some spices, citrus zest, vanilla, medium length, lightweight.

    Rating: 73

The result: uncomplicated whisky, with a rather pleasant aroma, but then everything does not continue, unfortunately. When you can afford to drink a lot, this is an ideal option - pleasant, and does not cause rejection, when acharacteristic plus.

Decent nose on white fruits and a little honey.

The palate is creamy with grape juice, lemon, hint of lime.

    Finish is ok, remaining creamy

Delicate and smooth. But could be longer.

Clontarf Single Malt is a soft and fruity Irish whisky and is distilled 3 times, followed by a ripening of used bourbon casks. A full taste of fresh malt, vanilla, orange and oak.

  8. drkrylov scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Slightly sweet, some malt, citrus, honey.
    • Taste
Very pleasant malt with some strong lemon and grapefruit citrus and honey. The taste is very smooth. The malt vis a vis the citrus creates something of a 'sweet and sour' effect.
    • Finish
Long and consistent flavour throughout the finish.

  9. Igor scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Succulent white fruits, apples and juicy melon mainly, jelly sweets, banana chips, vanillin, barberries candies. Then, in addition: candied fruit, an off-key soapiness behind it, pineapple, afterwards dim, slightly bitter lemonade.
    • Taste
Salty, oaky (shavings?), vanilla cream - like in confection, caramel, duchesse pear, honeyed porridge, ginger ale. Plants/herbs, leaf lettuce, sorrel, dill?, wormwood?, lemongrass oil, faint touches of nutmeg.
    • Finish
Medium to short length, soft. There's a bitter edge of charred oak in there, dried fig, fruit fudge- and mild gingery notes, wee splash of maple syrup over it, toffees and liquorice sweets, candied peel.
