Whisky Reviews for Highland Park 1990 DR

    Boy, what a wonderful
Highland Park. Available for 150 EUR. Worth every penny if you ask me.
    • Nose
      Sturdy and sweet nose
on candied oranges and hazelnuts, but also hints of nougat and heather. The
peat is discrete, the smoke minimal. Fresh figs, a grassy note and some heather
turn this into a very balanced nose.
    • Taste
      The attack is
powerful and spicy, immediately honeysweet. Apart from the fruit some hints of
espresso with whipped cream, sugared apple skins and even some chocolate
emerge. Tobacco as well. Cinnamon and cloves. Wonderful!
    • Finish
      The finish is fairly
long, sweet and spicy and remains juicy until the death.

This is a really spicy HP with bags of flavour and nice integration of peat, fruit & sherry.
    A lively one.

It is really incredible, we find the different aromas and characteristics of the distillery, having visited the distillery, I feel all the smells of each stage of its development as well as the windy and marine character of the ferry crossing. When I taste it at home in the Swiss Alps, each sip brings me back to Orkney and its wonderful memories. An exceptional success.

was now 2 years in the half-full sample bottle in the closet - did him very good - he is still very warm in the mouth - but otherwise he hardly stings, is very viscous, fruity, floral - more heather than smoke and as lusciously fruity as a Virgine Oak Cask only without the glue - shreds

Really lovely HP. Typical heather, decent peat and smoke. The sherry brings sweetness and some depth. Thumbs up!

Very good highland park from an independent
Bottler and without fretwork as with the
Original bottlings, you get with this single cask
Bottled by an independent bottler a good one
    Price-performance ratio.
It looked very good in the opened bottle
    developed. I got 88 points.
    • Nose
      90 90
Tender smoke. Sweet and a little phenolic. Powerful attack
so sniff carefully. There are very beautiful, easy ones
sour - vinous aromas from the sherry barrel and something
Orange. This is a nice sniff whisky.
    • Taste
      89 89
Without water, only very small sips are best
to take. The 58.1% can be felt well.
This one can take some water. There is one at once
nice sherry sweetness with a little honey. Not very fruity
but nice cinnamon and light chocolate / cocoa.
    • Finish
      85 85
      Dry, slightly astringent. Still something
Coffee and chocolate / cocoa and cinnamon.

    Bottler`s Notes:
    Colour: Deep gold, light amber.

Nose: Toffee with hazelnuts and grassy, heathery undertones.

Palate: Cafe latte, perhaps mocha with a hint of blood orange and tabacco on the finish.

Conclusion: Close your eyes and visit Orkney with every sip.
