delicious - but no longer recognizable as Nevis
    • Nose
Resin, mint, pine needles, lots of honey, wax, geranium, fresh oak boards, lemon - candied lemon zest, apricots
    • Taste
Oak, leather, lemon, apricot, melon - very sweet and at the same time a great warming spicy, ginger, honey, mint, rosemary, pepper, mountain pine, tobacco - you can chew very long and it still releases more flavors
    • Finish
fresh and very spicy tobacco - with light sweetness, some grass, wax

Ben Nevis 27y 1986/2013, 52.9%, Chester Whisky, bourbon hogshead, 157 bottles
Very pleasant and round nose, sweet and fruity. Ripe gooseberries, red apples and peaches. A walk between the fruit trees. That fruit is followed by hay, gingerbread and marzipan. A lot of marzipan. Vanilla also does. And honey. That sweet will of no districts know. A nice mineral test makes it complete. Wet stones and things, you know that. Not too much oak, although present. Round, full and creamy taste with a very nice 'kick-back'. First I taste spices such as pepper and cinnamon, honey and candy sugar, and apples. Syrup of apples, it remains very sweet on the taste. But then, suddenly and seemingly out of nowhere, pink grapefruit and mango pops up. A tropical backlash as it were. Something that makes the difference between 89 and 90 points. Good looking! Not only that I taste it, but also the way, like a thief in the night. Tomatin 1976 also has that sometimes. Juicy, supporting oak. Long aftertaste, slightly drying (the oak grows a little), but especially sweet and fruity. And the good news is that the exotic character is preserved. Thanks to the great twist on the taste a well-deserved 90/100 http://onversneden.com/2013/07/01/ben-nevis-27y-1986-chester-whisky/

All in all it's not bad but if it wouldn't have such a sharp taste I would have scored it higher.
    • Nose
In the nose I get fruit and waxyness.  It reminds me of a combination between a Clynelish and an Amrut.
    • Taste
The palate is quite different though.  It takes time for the fruit and wax to come to the surface because they're overpowerd by a very sharp taste.  Even water does not fade the peppery taste.  Pitty.
    • Finish
      Again pepper and some fruitiness.

    • Nose
In the beginning spicy and fruity
combined with wood tones. After a while more
      vanilla and toasted wood.
    • Taste
      Soft, but
also directly spicy, nice sweetness and some bitterness.
    • Finish
      Long, spicy
      and slightly bitter.

    A beautiful Ben Nevis, a report Q / P stripper.
    • Nose
Bourbon! Banana, mint, haribo sweets. Spices, pepper.
    • Taste
Very fruity, lively, long, powerful. spices always.
    • Finish
      Long and a little dry.

Not so bad even if the mouth is a little hot. Really a lot of spices in your mouth
    • Nose
A lot of exotic fruits, a little vanilla
    • Taste
Imbalance. Too much alcohol. Very spicy, peppery.
    • Finish
      On the almond. Beautiful length
