Bottler: van Wees (The Ultimate)
Expansion: Hogshead No. 3659
Region: Speyside, Scotland
Nose: Mild soft cheese, bean sprouts and nut oil, almonds and marzipan, very own but interesting. Behind it come sweeter fruits, especially peach and apple.
Palate: mouth filling sweetness, lots of fruit, especially bitter notes. Grapefruit, burned caramel, roasted nuts, oak, the wood is fruity and goes straight into the finish.
Finish: Rather short, if recurring. Very creamy, the oak lingers a little longer.
Conclusion: Definitely undervalued, not a simple but really exciting Speysider.
85/100 points (tasted 2016, approx. 85 €)
