The last dram from a bottle that has been open for well over a year. Time has done it good. I like it better than at first pour. Muted nose, fair body and a nice but too short nutty finish.
    • Nose
      76 76
      Grain, grass, cereal, lemon, pear.
All very light. Sweet and a little zesty.
Alc has become more integrated with time, hardly noticable now.
    • Taste
      77 77
      Neutral mothfeel.
      Sweet, glazed yellow fruit.
A little warmth, but extremely gentle.
      Traces of nuts.
    • Finish
      79 79
      Short of medium lenght.
Stays on the yellow fruit theme.
Dry walnuts at the very end.

Can’t say I’d had too much exposure to Glengoyne before visiting the distillery in 2017 [blog]. I know the distillery has many loyal fans, so I thought I’d revisit it.

C: A very friendly nose with pleasingly cake-y sugars that trickle over the sweet spot.

For a 10s really a very stable and pleasant malt that just is not very flat like many, you can play his 20-30 seconds in the mouth with him without boredom.
    • Nose
Soft honey, green apple, some lemon, pear, grass, light cereals, shortbread, very light and sweetish, but not too boring, toffee, some foliage
    • Taste
Beautifully balanced, fresh red apple, caramelized (yellow) fruits, lychee, pear, some sweet malt, lemon drops, some hazelnut, popcorn, hint of oak, cereals, sweet grasses
    • Finish
Short to medium long, apple peel, pear with seeds, sweet malt, a little hay, wild honey

  7. Egge scored this whisky 76 points Expert Junior

    • Nose
      77 77
Wet grass, pear, a little flowery, rather restrained.
    • Taste
      76 76
The first thing you notice is the mouthfeel: like drinking from a water bottle. Very gentle, a restrained sweetness, maybe vanilla? A little nut.
    • Finish
      76 76
In short, barely there ... a little oak and ginger. Sweet, I do not taste any more.

  8. Dre73 scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

It's okay, but very average. Just an easy and light step-in whisky.
    • Nose
      80 80
Fruity, some oranges and citrus, sweet as well: vanilla. Very light, flowerish.
    • Taste
      79 79
Very light again, and a little pale. Watery mouthfeel, sweet, honey, vanilla, a little caramel
    • Finish
      79 79
A very little pungent now, vanilla and honey again. Pretty short, a little fruity like peach. Light.

  9. Alex Fridays scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

Sweet fruits, honey, cake, dried fruits, raisin, dates, oak and vanilla notes on nose.

Dried fruits, raisin, light roughness, caramel, honey, spices and oak notes on palate.

Spices, sweet fruits, raisin, pepper, light dryness on short finish.

  10. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Solid standard, beautiful grain character, not too lax, fits for 32 €.
    • Nose
first impression already when pouring: beautiful, intensive cereal whisky, the grain then dominates in the glass, fresh hay, then a hint of fruity freshness, more apple than lemon ... later some sweetness (toffee, honey), but the grainy character remains
    • Taste
mild, malty, caramel, nut ... if it stays longer in the mouth, it will be a bit "crisper", crispbread (with nutella), a touch of dry wood and pepper
    • Finish
medium, there is still some crispbread, malt, nut ... and slight bitterness
